Summary of the Profile
The programme is designed to create the right conditions for teaching and learning to ensure the acquisition of competences required for forest workers: understanding of patterns of forest growth and formation, forest cultivation and formation, main forest cutting, forest ecosystems, flora and fauna, production accounting and marketing. This programme is intended for initial vocational education and training. The programme defines the following activities: reforestation and afforestation, developing and cutting of trees, forests and nature protection, logging and transportation of timber from logging sites, forest products accounting and marketing. Forest workers are taught growing forest seedlings, reforestation and afforestation, forest developing and main forest cutting, forest protection, forest products accounting. During practical sessions students apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and are taught forest tree seed collection and preparation for sowing, sowing seeds, seedlings grown and excavation. Also students are taught afforestation and reforestation, plantations and alder care, development of tree stands, forest and environmental protection, cutting and transportation of timber. The practice is carried out in public and private forest companies, which are involved in forest management and apply advanced forestry technology. During practice in theoretical sessions acquired competencies are consolidated, used and improved. Forest worker qualification awarded upon completion of the entire training program and acquisition of the necessary competencies. Final assessment consists of two parts: assessment of theoretical knowledge and assessment of practical skills. Upon completion of this programme, it is possible to continue training in the higher education institutions according to the programs in the field of biomedicine sciences.
