General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To train a professional who is able to work in a dynamic multicultural domestic and international market, who understands communication, the organization and management of the services in the companies in hospitality sector and is able to work / act responsibly, creatively and innovatively in ensuring quality of the services provided.
Learning outcomes:
1. Apply hospitality industry knowledge based on innovations in professional performance, creating service sets and providing the services;
2. Identify hospitality company performance problems, analyse their causes and suggest solutions
3. Initiate and implement development projects in hospitality company through environmental research and data analysis and prediction methods;
4. Understand methodology of social research and select the appropriate method to address the problem;
5. Prepare research plan and carry out the research, using IT for data collection, structuring, processing and analysis;
6. Evaluate the research results critically, formulate conclusions and provide rational suggestions;
7. Plan accommodation and catering services, applying environmental analysis and research results, using teamwork and other methods;
8. Organize service provision in hospitality company, using specific technology solutions;
9. Develop and implement leisure programs for the guests in the hospitality company, taking into account different needs and choosing the right tools;
10. Apply national and international laws and requirements for services, when performing professional tasks independently;
11. Assess the performance and results of oneself and the subordinates, implement lifelong learning approach, seek personal and professional leadership in accordance with professional ethical principles;
12. When communicating with guests, identify their different needs and be able to deal with conflict situations;
13. Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, business partners and other persons in creating a relationship of mutual trust;
14. Know peculiarities of different cultures and to create an environment that is open to other cultures in the professional performance;
15. Take responsibility for the quality of one’s own performance and his subordinates and ensuring service provision standards, job performance and other requirements following principles of social responsibility and citizenship;
16. Communicate hospitality knowledge and understanding, plan the process of self-development and professional development of the subordinate staff.
Activities of teaching and learning:
In the study process are applied various teaching and learning methods and the virtualization of study process as well. The student-centred teaching and learning oriented towards self- independent work, reasoned by tasks, a group work where Problem Based Learning takes a very important role.
In the programme is designed to reach an active students’ participation in the study process, a creation of educative environment applying such methods like and interactive lecture, discussions, a practical work, case studies, study of scientific literature and other informational references, solutions of problem based situations.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
In the study process accumulative score system is applied. Using this system, each score is based on the criteria linked to the program and module/subject learning outcomes. Final assessment of each module consists of the weigh average of
interim assessments of the subjects included into the module.
Information about student achievement and testing procedures is presented in the module program.
Assessment methods of each module and the subjects are described in the descriptions of the modules and subjects. Different methods used to assess study achievements: an examination, a course paper evaluation, an assessment of the project work, a practical work assessment, a test, a report presentation and others.

Basics of Hospitality Industry (10 ECTS); Fundamentals of Hospitality Communication (20 ECTS) Languages and Ethics (10 ECTS); Organizing Hospitality Services (10 ECTS); (Business Environment Research (10 ECTS), Marketing (10 ECTS) Hospitality Business Finance and Law (10 ECTS); Hospitality Services Management (20 ECTS); Sustainable Development and Hospitality (20 ECTS); Intercultural Communication and Cooperation (10 ECTS).
Students will study not less than 80 ECTS (45%) on the basis of mobility. It will be not less than 50 ECTS in the partner institution and 30 ECTS will be practical training in the institutions of Hospitality Management in Europe.

Professional Communication Practical Training: (10 ECTS); Professional Activity Practical Training: (10 ECTS), Final Practice (10 ECTS).

Optional courses:
1. Alternatively chosen modules: Organisational Behaviour ( 10 ECTS) or Personnel Management ( 10 ECTS)
2. Optional chosen modules: Hospitality Project Development and Management (10 ECTS), Cultural Tourism Project Development and Management (10 ECTS), Banquet Project Development and Management (10 ECTS), Wellness Project Development and Management (10 ECTS).
3. Possibility to choose two foreign languages.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
Joint Hospitality management study programme is an international study programme implemented at Utena University of Applied Sciences, Lithuania, and Rezeknes Academy of Technologies, Latvia. The study programme is conducted in English and has the same content in both institutions. The graduates are awarded with two diplomas. The structure of the study programme is modular. Students have an opportunity to study in a distance way.

Access to professional activity:
Graduates of the Hospitality Management study programme will be able to establish a hospitality company and manage it.
Access to further study:
Graduates will be able to continue their studies in Rezeknes Academy of Technologies and Universities in Lithuania at the Master's degree programs in Business and Management Studies in the field of Social Studies and enter to the third cycle doctoral studies.
