Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare creative specialists who flexibly respond to
changes in the business environment of tourism events and
entertainment and who constantly strive for professional and
personal development, who are able to work independently
and in a team in the field of management of tourism and
recreation services, who know the specifics of the field of
events and entertainment, who are able to initiate, create and
manage creative events and entertainment projects.
Learning outcomes:
1.1. Has knowledge of Lithuanian and international tourism
policy and event and entertainment industries.
1.2. Knows and understands modern concepts and
technologies of tourism events and entertainment, understands
their integration in the context of modern society. 1.3. Knows the basics of business and public management,
enabling to understand and evaluate the external and internal
environmental factors of tourism and entertainment business
enterprises.
2.1. Is able to carry out qualitative and quantitative applied
research in the field of tourism and entertainment, collect and
analyse data from primary and secondary sources to make
business decisions.
2.2. Is able to use applied research methods, analyse and
formulate conclusions of empirical research, find and justify
solutions to the problems of tourism events and entertainment
entities.
3.1. Is able to organize tourism events and entertainment
activities, selecting and using the most advanced technologies,
marketing strategies to promote market growth and
sustainability.
3.2. Is able to design, plan, manage projects, sell various
tourism events and entertainment products to various national
and international audiences.
3.3. Is able to ensure tourism and entertainment market
communication using media, marketing tools, non-verbal and
written to local, national and international audiences.
3.4. Adheres to the requirements of legal acts, ethical norms
governing the execution of events in a global environment,
identifying and reducing risks, ensuring safety.
4.1. Is able to communicate and collaborate with specialists in
various fields, involving the local and international
community, in order to achieve social responsibility, economic
and sustainable development.
4.2. Is able to discuss relevant professional issues, seeks to
develop and strengthen the professional skills of a specialist in
tourism events and entertainment.
5.1. Has expressive speaking skills in Lithuanian and foreign
languages, is able to creatively express ideas in writing.
5.2. Is able to be a leader who creates significant positive
changes, motivates the team to achieve common goals.
5.3. Is able to critically assess and reflect on their professional
activities, realizes the importance of lifelong learning.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative, active teaching and learning methods are used,
student-oriented independent work of the student based on
practical tasks, group work where problem and critical
thinking is very important. The programme aims at active
participation of students in the study process, aims to create
an active educational environment using various methods:
interactive lectures, practical work, discussions, problem
solving, analysis of literature and various sources, project
preparation, work with a company representative/mentor, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Study results are evaluated according to the levels of study
achievements and a ten-point criterion evaluation system, according to the Study Results Evaluation Procedure of Utena
University of Applied Sciences, 2022.
The studied subjects are completed with an exam or project
work, depending on the results of the study programme. The
final grade for the subject is a cumulative score. The student
achievement evaluation formula is presented in the
descriptions of the study subjects. Each teacher introduces
students to the evaluation of the subject during the first
session.

3. The student freely chooses 2 subjects (6 credits) from the
list of freely chosen subjects in the college.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
This study programme is operated not only by applying
innovative teaching/learning methods, but at the same time
responding quickly to changes in the tourism events and
entertainment markets. Students are oriented towards
innovative tourism events and entertainment development
activities, contributing to the social responsibility, economic
obligations and environmental care of the local and
international community. Teaching is based on practical tasks
that require problem-solving and critical thinking. Students
will acquire part of the skills by working together with a
company's representative /mentor.

Graduates of the Events and Entertainment study programme:
- will be able to work in institutions of various types (both
public and private sector) organizing tourism events and
entertainment and providing cultural and leisure services,
- will be ready to start and develop their own entertainment
and leisure activities business.
The most common workplaces are companies in the tourism
and recreation sector, various cultural centers, theaters,
galleries, event organization companies, libraries.
Access to further study:
Graduates will be able to continue their studies to obtain a
bachelor's degree at universities. After completing additional
studies or fulfilling other requirements set by the higher
education institution, they will have the right to enroll in
second-cycle master's studies and third-cycle doctoral studies.
