Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme: to train culture and sports managers for practical work in institutions organizing sports, leisure and entertainment, capable of analyzing and evaluating trends in culture, sports and entertainment business under changing market conditions, following legal acts, developing innovative, insightful and socially responsible business.

Learning outcomes:
1.1. Knows the principles of state culture and sports policy.
1.2. Knows the boundaries of professional activity and responsibility, applies the provisions of business law and administrative acts and professional ethics in the practice of culture and sports industry manager, consults within professional competence.
1.3. Understands and applies modern terminology, laws, principles of economics, management and marketing area, evaluates the tendencies of culture and sports industry activities taking into account scientific and technological novelties / innovations.
2.1. Following the principles of research ethics, is able to carry out culture, sports scientific applied research, interpret, analyze, summarize, present research results and apply them to solve manager's problems (issues).
3.1. Is able to organize cultural, sports events and manage them.
3.2. Is able to analyze and evaluate the specifics of culture, sports industry, regulation, processes and operational perspectives, to establish and administer cultural, sports institutions and public organizations.
3.3. Is able to evaluate the cultural and sport business environment, prepare projects.
3.4. Is able to create culture and sports products, apply their support principles.
3.5. Is able to select and coordinate material, human, and financial resources to ensure the effectiveness of the organization.
4.1. Is able to communicate and collaborate with national and foreign partners, to work in a team with colleagues, specialists in other fields.
4.2. Is able to express his or her thoughts fluently in an oral and written manner, to communicate effectively in a professional environment in Lithuanian and foreign languages, to recognize the diversity of persons and intercultural differences.
5.1. Is able to evaluate critically professional practice of culture, sports industry management, to understand the importance of lifelong learning, to make decisions independently and to evaluate their impact in practical management situations, using practical knowledge and taking responsibility.
5.2. Is able to collect and systematize information related to culture, sports industry management, to use of modern technologies and information systems in management practice, and to observe ethical and deontological principles.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative teaching and learning methods, virtualization of the study process are applied.
Student-centered self-study of a student based on tasks in group work, where problematic and critical thinking is very important. An educational environment is created for the student, where the opportunity is created to control his / her study process, to perform the activity reflection, to encourage creativity and innovation.
The programme aims at active participation of students in the study process: the aim of the lecture is to create a discussion environment, to promote the dialogue between the teacher and the student, avoiding only the monological nature of teaching.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The curriculum content formation policy is focused on the development of professional special competencies, but also on the broad development of general abilities, values, competencies necessary for the present manager, based on the transfer and acceptance of knowledge, their analysis, critical assessment, problem solving search. Therefore, the aims, content, and study methods of the subjects enable students to search, research, analyze, evaluate and summarize legal reality themselves. Students are given the opportunity to improve their analytical thinking skills, to familiarize themselves with the gradually increasing requirements for self-evaluation and to form the idea of lifelong learning.

1. General subjects of college studies - 15 credits:
Business Language and Document Management, Speciality Foreign Language, Introduction to Philosophy.
2. Study field subjects (141 cr.)
2.1. Field subjects (102 cr.):
Information Technology in Business, Introduction to Studies, Applied mathematics, Social Media, Development of Audiovisual Products, Management and Entrepreneurship, Social Research Methodology, Business Communication, Human Resources Management, Innovation and Strategic Management, Public Relations, Business Accounting, International Business, Marketing Research, Multicultural Communication, Applied Economics, Motion Management and Healthy Lifestyle, Communication Psychology, Cultural Industry and Popular Culture, Leadership and Teamwork, International Sports Management, Cultural Business Organization, Event Management, Communication Projects.
Professional practices - 30 cr.
Introductory practice, Enterprise Management Practice, Professional Practice at Sport/Cultural Organization, Final Practice.
2.3. Preparation of final thesis - 9 cr.

Access to professional activity:
Graduates of Culture and Sports Industry Management study programme will be able to work as a manager in the cultural and sports industry, municipal physical education and sports departments, sports training institutions, sports federations, associations, public institutions, health centers, sports clubs, cultural activities institutions, concert organizations, agencies , theatres, television, leisure centres, audio studios, art galleries.

Access to further study:
Supplementary management studies at universities are organized for non-university graduates, and a university bachelor's degree is obtained. Studies can be continued according to the study programmes of the study field of management of social sciences in Lithuanian and foreign higher education institutions. Supplementary studies are studies that include subjects of basic studies that are not studied by those intending to study in the Master's programme. Upon completion of the supplementary studies, persons have the right to participate in a general competition for Master‘s studies.
