Objective(s) of a study programme:
Ornamental Greenery
Learning outcomes:
The study program objective is train decorative plantation specialists, having theoretical, applied and analytical skills and knowledge of ornamental plants, their cultivation and application capable to deal with the issue of improving the quality of green space, capable of creating and organizing the plantation business.
1. To know of plantation and landscaping the concepts and terms formation.
2. To understand the characteristics and growing conditions of ornamental plants.
3. To select ornamental plants for all kinds of in green plantations.
4. To estimate of natural resources and the landscape.
5. To be able to investigate the business environment.
6. To know the soil tillage and plant care techniques.
7. To planned and installations of green areas in the landscape.
8. To understand the rules of cultural heritage and the formation green plantations.
9. To combine theoretical and practical knowledge in creating artistic compositions of plants, in installation, maintenance and transformation of lawns and equipment.
10. To apply international, European and Lithuanian legal and regulatory documents, standards governing business development, landscaping and landscape design basics.
11. To be able to set up a business or a department and plan its activities.
12. To develop communication skills, skills, pay clear and fair presentation of their views; independently solve
problems and draw conclusions and generalizations.
13. To understand the moral responsibility for the safe operation for its results and the for quality of its employees.
14. To apply the knowledge of basic sciences and professional of nature.
15. To apply the acquired Lithuanian and foreign language skills in professional activities.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Learning and teaching focuses on the student. Lectures, practical work (task-based), individual work, term papers and thesis, independent study of literature, discussions and group work.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Study results are evaluated during the semester. Is applied the formative (informal) assessment and formal assessment, based on a cumulative manner; each subject (module) study is completed by a written examination or self-performed work tasks delivery and evaluation of professional practice evaluation report. Exam assessments from 1 to 4 are not satisfactory. At the end of the program the thesis prepared and defended
Framework:
Study subjects (modules), practical training:
Study programs consist of 180 credits (4800 working hours). Permanent length of study - three years (6 semesters), part-time study duration of four years ( 8 semesters).
Volume of the subjects of the basics in the study field of the Study Programmer is - 156 credits (87%), general subjects of the collegial studies – 15 credits (8%). 30 credits (18 % ) is for practices, optional subjects 9 credit (5%), final practice 9 credits(5%), and work on the final thesis 9 credits (5%).
Students spend 884 hours of theory lectures, 1664 hours of workshops, 394 hours counseling and evaluation and 1858 hours for independent activities.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The program is conducted in Lithuanian formed. The knowledge and skills to work in the areas of green space for environmental improvement area. The study program is aimed at developing high caliber, creative and critically thinking personality, able to freely communicate, solve. The problems of decorative plantation and putting into practice new technologies and developing a personality able to perceive the in pact of beautiful and neatenvironment. Part of the study is taught in the virtual space.

Access to professional activity:
Decorative plantation vocational bachelor graduates:
• will be able to set up their own businesses and to conduct their business, set up different profile nurseries, providing planting material to domestic and foreign markets, the applicatying new scientific knowledge in professional activities;
• will be able to work in the fields of supervising various private and public companies; greenery making structures and landscaping and horticulture services;
• willbe be able to work in ornamental plant nurseries, botanical gardens, local government institutions and ornamental plants , parks and green areas of care.
• will be able to plan and manage green environment, select assortment of decorative plants greenery installed ;
• will be able to work in a team and work in groups, to make decisions and respond for them to cooperate with domestic and foreign partners and competitors
Access to further study:
After completing the study program graduates can continue their studies in Lithuania and other countries in higher education, which is recognized in accordance with Lithuania: ASU (Greenery, agronomy, forestry, etc.). Gediminas Technical University (environmental engineering), Klaipeda University (landscape planning and environmental studies, ecology and environmental science) and continue their studies in foreign universities.
