Summary of the Profile of study programme
General Description:
Objective(s) of the study programme:
The aim of Logistics study programme is to prepare the specialist able: to conduct the processes of cargo and passenger carriage, effective activity of logistics chain and the information streams of logistics process management; to apply the legal acts regulating the logistics activity; to organize the activity of logistics companies/departments; to work independently and creatively under the changing conditions in business.
Learning outcomes:
1. Able to apply the knowledge of economics, statistics, management and business organization in the national and international environment;
2. Able to apply the legal norms of local distributions and international logistics;
3. Able to analyze, systematize and control the information streams of logistics system;
4. Able to assess the environment of logistics business, market tendencies and the opportunities for creating/developing/expanding business;
5. Able to monitor the processes of passenger and cargo carriage, organize its material supply, ensure the quality and control;
6. Able to plan and organize the supply, purchase and sales, warehousing and distribution processes;
7. Able to analyze the logistics networks and systems, perform logistics functions, and apply marketing principles and methods in the local and international logistics;
8. Able to work under the principles of ethics, international communication, and sustainability focusing on the aspects of security, effectiveness, environmental protection; communicate and cooperate in teams;
9. Able to use modern information technologies in professional activity, communicate in native and foreign business languages, demonstrate negotiating and stress management skills;
10. Able to demonstrate independency and creativity by taking managerial decisions, applying and developing innovations;
11. Able to plan directions of self-realization and self-education, realize the responsibility for one’s activity results, independently learn in the constantly changing field of professional activity.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, seminars, discussion, practical assignments, problem teaching, preparation of projects, teaching projects in the business companies, case study, group assignments, video situation analysis, situation modelling, role-play, debates, brainstorming, demonstration, case study, information search and analysis, consulting, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The System of Accumulative Assessment is used. Methods of assessment: individual/group integrated projects or/and course paper, inquiry (written, oral), testing, report on a case study and its presentation, report on a video situation and its presentation, project report, preparation and delivery of presentation, reports, presentation of practical work, presentation of idea mapping, project group presentation, presentation of individual assignments, essay, final thesis etc.

International Business Communication (Business English I; International Communication; Communicational Psychology), Basics of International Business (International Business Environment; Business Models and Projects; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; International Business Legal Regulation), Basics of Logistics (Chains of Logistics Systems; Transport in Logistics Processes; Fundamentals of the European Union InternalMarket; Business English II), Business Management (Management; Marketing; Accounting and Finance), Legal Regulation of Logistics Activity (Legal Regulation of Logistics Chains; Law of International Carriage; Insurance), Management of Logistics Processes (Supply Chain Management; IT Systems of Logistics; Carriage Organisation; Market Research), Optional modules: Transport Management (Transport Infrastructure; Cargo Carriage Technologies; Negotiation Management)/ Supply Management (Planning and Processes of Supply; E-logistics; Organisation of Cargo Packing Process; Negotiation Management);
2. Practice in Logistics (15 credits);
3. Final Thesis (Final Internship, Final Project) - 30 credits.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
Study programme is based on the modular principle that allows to ensure the interdisciplinary of studies, flexible learning environment, enhance the student’s role in the study process, encourage his/her independence, activeness, responsibility for one’s learning outcomes, integrate the practical and self-study assignments, anticipates one semester internship in logistics companies; is orientated towards problem-based teaching, formation of the systemic approach for the student, socially responsible and ethical business; is able to offer study and practice opportunities abroad.
The study programme teachers are specialists with practical experience in logistics and business activities.
Possibility to choose a double degree studies of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences and Thomas More University of Applied Sciences (Belgium). Third year students who cgoose to study foro ne year at Thomas More UAS in Belgium will obtain diploma from these two higer education institutions.

Access to professional activity:
The graduates will be ready to work as logistics managers in the business companies providing production and trade, warehouse and terminal, road, rail, sea, air transport activities and transport expedition services, in post and express service sectors, state institutions and other business companies which have managerial logistics decisions necessary in their activity.
Access to further study:
The graduates are entitled to a credit transfer system for entering level one university study programmes, they can choose Master programmes. The continuation of studies is possible in the study programmes in the field of business and management in Lithuanian and/or foreign universities.
