General Description:
Objective(s) of the study programme:
The aim of Fashion Design study programme is to train highly qualified professional bachelor’s degree fashion design specialists able to react to the market needs, design individually and in a team, implement creative ideas for industrial mass production as well as unique unit designs in fashion industry.
Learning outcomes:
Graduates will:
1. know the main fashion design conceptions, historical and contemporary development via analysing design phenomena and tendencies;
2. analyze and critically evaluate information for implementation of creative ideas;
3. understand fashion design peculiarities, will apply knowledge when creating project ideas, will search for individual creative expression;
4. apply knowledge about fashion design, creative fashion industries when creating projects;
5. carry out a research of customer needs and use its findings when implementing creative ideas;
6. create projects for industrial mass production based on personal creativity and team work experience;
7. create collections of unique designs;
8. design textile using creatively visual expression tools;
9. know the main sewing technologies and construction methods, will apply them when realizing creative ideas;
10. apply practically fashion industry innovations and innovative technologies;
11. implement textile design project using the newest technologies and equipment;
12. be aware of management principles, legal basis, will know health and safety requirements in connection with professional performance;
13. present creative projects using innovative technologies, portfolio of creative works;
14. study independently, make solutions, plan one‘s performance perceiving the importance of Life Long Learning principle;
15. work in a team, refer to professional ethics, social and moral responsibility, will communicate in the state and foreign languages.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, presentations, discussions, seminars, demonstrations, practical assignments, group work, literature study, project preparation, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Learning achievements are assessed using accumulative assessment system. Knowledge and skills are assessed by ten grades scale. The final score may consist of several components, collected in the study process (interim reports, self-study papers, examination or project). Study subject teacher determines accumulative assessment of the subject components and their values of the coefficients depending on the complexity of the subject. Study subject teacher determines and informs the students at the beginning of the term about the impact (percent) of each component (task, work) for final assessment and formulates assessment criteria for each intermediate assignment.
Framework:
Study subjects (modules), practical training:
Volume of general subjects of collegial studies is 15credits: Philosophy, Foreign Language, Basics of Law, Language Usage and Rhetoric.
Volume of subjects of the basic study field is 141 credits: Costume History, Computer Graphics, Basics of Clothing Composition, Sewing Technology, Drawing, Fashion History, Basics of Design, Fashion Illustration, Clothing Design and Sewing, Social Psychology, Basics of Modeling and Draping, Painting, Fashion Marketing, Contemporary Fashion and Style, Visual Expression, Special Fabric Technology, Basics of Business, Human Safety, Fabric Design, History of Art;
Volume of professional practices is 30 credits (Internship of Study of Natural Forms, Internship of Computer Graphics and Visualization, Production Internship, Technological Internship, Final Internship) and the Final Thesis - 15 credits.

Volume of optional courses is 9 credits for free elective study subjects. Students can deepen the knowledge in a chosen field of studies by selecting specialized subjects of the study field and choose subjects from the general list of free elective study subjects suggested in the college website http://www.kaunokolegija.lt/studentams/studijos/laisvai- pasirenkamieji-dalykai/

Distinctive features of the study programme:
Fashion design study programme differs from the other similar programmes realized by the fact that students learn to design fabric with the help of software and other innovative technologies, to produce the designed fabric, they are taught traditional and non traditional methods of decorating fabric, students use the unique fabric when designing collections.

Access to professional activity:
After completing Fashion Design study programme, graduates will be able to work in industrial enterprises, firms, companies, take managerial positions, establish private business, work on a freelance basis or perform as an independent artist.

Access to the second cycle studies upon meeting requirements set by the accepting higher education institution.
