Summary of the Profile of study programme

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
Prepare accountants for the organizations operating in national and global markets, able to manage accounting, control accounting of economic processes, carry out the analysis of financial condition and performance results and participate in development of the budgets of the organizations, to carry out project, creativity and self-expression based activities and adapt (continually learn) to the constantly changing environment.
Learning outcomes:
1. Know general principles of the economics, management, finance and accounting sciences, fundamental theories, enabling to understand internal and external environmental factors of organizations and their accounting, management and assessment methods and are able to apply them in practical accounting activities.
2. Understand the structure of the finance system, types and purpose of finance markets, principles of finance management theories, are able to forecast their implementation possibilities.
3. Understand accounting functions of the public and private sector, are able to apply professional activity knowledge of accounting, accounting ways and methods, solving concrete problems of accounting area at the organisation level.
4. Know and refer to legal acts regulating accounting and audit procedures, the principles of accounting and financial control, legal bases of civil and occupational safety.
5. Are able to conduct research, collect and analyze data necessary for making decisions related to accounting of professional activities, using modern information technologies and applying effective research methods and models.
6. Are able to use information technologies, special computer accounting software and process accounting information using them.
7. Apply legal acts regulating accounting and taxes, international financial accountability and national accounting standards, know the principles of applying the provisions of professional accountants’ Code of Ethics and are able to follow them.
8. Understand the principles and aims of accounting policymaking, implement it and monitor its legitimacy.
9. Self-manage accounting of organizations and natural persons: formalize transactions, account for long-term and current assets, equity capital, accounts payable and liabilities, income and costs, perform year-end accounting procedures; prepare a set of financial statements, statistical accountability, declare taxes.
10. Summarize, analyze, systematise data of financial reports of the organization, assess the results of the financial status and performance, submit proposals to make management, financing and investment decisions.
11. Participate in the preparation of the budget, business plan, project of the organisation, justify the efficiency of resource utilization, apply internal control system, assess risk.
12. Are able to perform practical accounting activities, plan, organize, monitor the activities of the accounting service, independently choosing technological, organizational and methodological tools.
13. Are able to communicate effectively, convey knowledge and understanding following professional ethics and public spirit, critically and consistently express ideas, raise problems and solve them.
14. Are able to self-develop in their professional performance areas, expand professional competence, are interested in novelties, perceive responsibility for the impact of their activity results on public welfare and environment.
15. Are able to perform diverse project activities, grounded on creativity and self-expression, in the changing and international environment.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Teaching and learning activities are geared toward development of students entrepreneurship, creativity and special competences. Innovative teaching and learning methods are used, providing and consolidating basic knowledge and aimed for promoting analytical thinking and simulating the professional activities: lecture, demonstration, search for information, discussion, conversation, problem solving, case studies, exercises, concepts map, problematic aspects analysis, using special software applications packages, technical modeling and searching for solutions, critical reading and analysis of problem situations, group and (or) individual work, brainstorming and others.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Assessment of study results is a part of the study process. Assessment is carried out during the whole semester and the exam session. Ten point criteria based assessment system as well as cumulative assessment is applied. During the semester learning outcomes are assessed through interim assessments (written quizzes, control tasks, creative tasks, projects, which are written and orally defended). The studies of every subject end with an examination or assessment of student's self-study work (project, research, practical activity evaluation, etc.). Student's knowledge and skills are assessed at the exam session only after student completes the assigned interim assessment tasks during the semester. Final assessment (mark) consists of marks for interim assessments and an examination mark. Its composition is calculated according to the ratios intended in the description of the subject.

Study subjects (modules), practical training:
Scope the main part of study field subjects is 134 credits (including practice). Basics of Accounting, Document Management, Applied Mathematics, Law, Management, Environmental and Human Safety, Basics of Economics
Marketing, Statistics, Financial Accounting, Basics of Finance, Tax System, Methodology of Applied Research,
Management Accounting, Business Economics (subject / practice), Accounting of Public Sector, Financial Analysis and Finance Management, International Accounting Standards, Audit and Internal Control System, Accounting of Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships and Residents’ Individual Activity, etc.
The total duration of practices is 20 weeks: Practice of Basics of Accounting, Practice of Accounting and Taxes, Business Economics, Practice of Computerised Accounting, Pre-Graduation Practice.
Specialisations:

Optional courses:
Cost Accounting / Budget Preparation and Budgetary Control / Budget Preparation and Budgetary Control in English; Accounting of Road Transport Enterprises / Accounting of Construction Enterprises; Computerised Accounting I / Computerised Accounting II; Project Preparation and Management / Public Procurement / Project Preparation and Management in English.
9 credits are allocated for freely elective subjects. Students can choose freely elective subjects from those offered by the College or gain credits by participating in mobility projects.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
Accountants are trained not only for businesses, but also for the public sector. Visiting teachers from abroad as well as teachers working in companies with extensive practical experience deliver lectures in the programme. Elective study field subjects aimed for deepening knowledge and developing skills are in line with the needs of employers in the region: knowledge is deepened in Road Transport Companies Accounting and Construction Companies Accounting.

The graduate will be able to work in companies and organizations accounting offices, to set up his/her accounting services company and provide accounting services for other needs.

The graduate may continue studies at universities under the programmes in the study fields group of Business and Public Administration.
