2. To know the conditions of development of aquatic organisms and its habitat conditions, formation and change patterns of yielding in relate with the environmental changes of anthropogenic influence.
3. To know the fisheries and aquaculture schemes used in breeding, rearing and feeding technologies in farms, their purpose and principles of application, be aware of the fisheries and aquaculture design and construction principles, taking into account the legislation and directives.
4. Describe the fisheries and aquaculture business management features, methods, and strategies for aquaculture business development, operational funding, fisheries and aquaculture production innovation and marketing issues and strategies.
5. Apply traditional research methods, scientific literature, information technologies and statistical methods of calculation to perform and summarize the research and creative use results of analysis by preparation of the final thesis and oral presentations.
6. Apply modern equipment in laboratories, special computer programs for design of fisheries and aquaculture farms by implementation of innovative ideas for management of farms.
7. Describe the fisheries and aquaculture technological processes, identify problems and solve them, relate agriculture activity and aquaculture productivity and safety, analyze and evaluate effects of the fisheries and aquaculture on the environment, to provide the preventive safety measures.

9. Solve the technological challenges related to management of fisheries and aquaculture farms; organize activities to ensure their entrepreneurship and competitiveness.
10. To critically and logically contemplate, to have a reasoned opinion and be able to defend it, to gather and present scientific information to different audiences.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative methods of teaching and learning and visual process of studies are applied in activities. Independent work of a student is oriented towards students. Discussions are proceeded in lectures and seminars in order to avoid monologue speech; laboratory and practical works are reasoned out with group work; the projects are prepared applying case analysis, consequently, problematic and critical contemplation is very important, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Accumulative assessment is applied. Accumulative mark consists of component parts by which certain subjects in a study programme are assessed. Studies in every subject are finished in examination in a written form. The main criterion is reclamation of cumulative knowledge and interpretation of practice. Knowledge that has been mastered in laboratory and practical works are assessed according to work reports, written conclusions and ability to systematize and generalize results. Knowledge of a subject is assessed in ten point system estimating practice, laboratory works and theoretical knowledge separately. The received results in points are multiplied by standing coefficient and then are balanced.
Framework:
Study subjects (modules), practical training:
The extent of main study trend in credits consists of 165 credits (with practice).
Water Chemistry, Applied Physics, Computer Graphics, Mathematics and Informatics, Introduction to Fisheries and Aquaculture Technologies Studies, Human Safety, Biostatistics and Research Basics, Fisheries Policy and Law, Water biology, Fisheries Construction Basics, Electrical Equipment and Control of Aquaculture Processes, Sustainability of Aquatic Ecosystems, Environmental Impact Assessment, Feed Preparation and Feeding Technology for Aquaculture, Aqua-products Storage and Processing, Match Fishing and Recreational Fishing, Aquaculture Wastewater Treatment Technologies, Hydraulic Structures of Fishery Farming and Aquaculture, Technologies of Water Supply and Preparation for fisheries and aquaculture, Computer-Aided Design of Equipment and Structures in Fisheries and Aquaculture, Fish breeding, Complex Project of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Practice of Professional Activities, Final work
Specializations:
-
Optional courses:
9 credits are appointed to students as freely elective subjects. Students can freely choose subjects from the spheres of technologies, biomedicine, social sciences and/or humanities.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
It is the only university degree study programme that prepares specialists of technologies of fishery and aquaculture. The aim of this study programme is to provide students with not only the biological knowledge about fish, but also the strong technological knowledge basis which will provide more universal education, new abilities and skills that can be applied successfully to solving industrial process control and competitiveness challenges of farms and companies of both private and state fisheries and aquaculture sector.
