Description

Object of activities: provision of necessary medical assistance within the competence of a paramedic.
Typical work tools: medical tools, preparations, devices, materials, airway patency and support equipment, ambulance, various types of stretchers, vacuum and simple immobilization splints, etc.
Typical working conditions: indoor and outdoor work, individual and team work.
Additional information: the paramedic follows the medical norm of The Republic of Lithuania MN 135: 2019 “Paramedic”, approved by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania in 25 November 2005 by order no. V-915 “On the Lithuanian Medical Standard MN 135: 2005“ Paramedic. Rights, duties, competences and responsibilities” approval”, the internal rules of the workplace, the requirements of occupational safety and health, ergonomics, public health safety, fire safety and environmental protection and other legal acts. Qualified individuals will be able to engage in the paramedical practice only in the licensed personal health care institutions that are authorized to provide emergency medical care and/or other health care services that in compliance with the legislation require paramedic services along with other health care services. A paramedic works independently or in a team with other health care professionals.
Competences of qualification:
1. Evaluate the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the human body.
2. Communicate and collaborate with patients and their families as well as members of the healthcare team and institutions involved in personal health care.
3. Provide first aid.
4. Perform initial resuscitation of the injured.
5. Recognize acute conditions and injuries of a patient.
6. Provide the patient with emergency medical care in case of acute conditions and injuries.
7. Prepare the patient for transportation.
8. Transport the patient.
9. Knowledge of health prevention measures.
10. Apply preventive medical measures.
11. Be prepared for action in case of emergency.
12. Provide medical care in the event of emergency.
