Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the Graphical User Interface Development study programme is to train professionals who are able to develop design specifications for visualisation, adapt them to a content management system, define the characteristics of the target audience, and manage information about needs; create an optimal user experience model, analyse usability data; plan the improvement of the product and the system and ensure the implementation of the user interface by means of programming.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and its application
1. To collect and manage information about the user’s needs, expectations and requirements applying user monitoring, testing, attention tracking and other technological measures.
2. To develop user experience and design specifications applying technological, functional and logical limitations, selecting models for the providing and layout of navigation elements.
Research Abilities
3. To solve the problems of user interface development by analysing and evaluating data on the user’s needs, expectations and requirements.
Special abilities
4. To create an image of the system user interface applying technological, functional and logical limitations, requirements for the application navigation model, style and usability principles.
5. To create a sketch of the system user interface using design and sketching tools.
6. To develop online products using design and programming tools.
Social skills
7. To communicate professionally in Lithuanian and foreign language with the user interface developers, designers, programmers and data analysts.
Personal skills
8. To learn independently striving for continuous personal and professional development in the field of the user interface development.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Interactive theory lectures: explanation during lectures along with analysis of practical examples, demonstration of method application, discussion, solving of practical tasks, interactive solving of tasks, reports of laboratory and practical work, practical test tasks. Project preparation under the guidance of a teacher’s consultation, self-study, project report, presentation and evaluation. Self-study: report, presentation, demonstration, self-check tests, self-study of scientific literature.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Students’ subject learning outcomes are assessed of ten-point cumulative grading system.
Respectively, one or several assessment criteria for study achievements are formulated. Assessment criteria are the basis for preparation of knowledge evaluation tasks of various forms because the execution of the latter allows drawing conclusions about the level of achievement of learning outcomes. Assessment procedure, assessment system and assessment criteria are based on the principles of consistency, reliability, clarity, usefulness and impartiality. For the assessment of student’s study subject achievement, accumulative (learning outcomes are assessed by means of intermediate knowledge assessments) or collegial (in case of applied graduation project, students are examined by a competent commission consisting of scientists, professional practitioners, and representatives of social partners) assessment is used.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study program combines design, computer graphics, digital marketing and programming technologies knowledge and practical skills development.
Access to professional activity or further study:
Access to professional activity:
The knowledge and abilities of the graduate of the User Interface Development study program, who has acquired the qualification of a User Interface Developer, are required to work with advanced information technologies and individual communication with user- based services that require ICT knowledge. Qualified user interface developers will be able to work in ICT sector companies: web design, telecommunication and digital media, web development, e-trade, marketing and advertising enterprises as well as companies developing information systems for business and administration.
A wide choice of options will ensure a variety of places for traineeships and the choice of field of activity upon completion of systems administration studies.
Access to further study:
Graduates of User Interface Development study programme can continue studies based on higher education Information Engineering study field programmes. The graduates are eligible to enroll into the first level study programmes.
Graduates of the study programme can also continue studies in foreign higher education institutions.
