General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the study programme Financial Industry is to train competent financial professionals, who are able to understand features of the functioning of the financial industry (including banks, credit unions, payment institutions, investment companies, pension funds, finance companies, insurance companies and other companies providing financial services) in a rapidly changing global environment; and are able to apply the acquired knowledge when performing various functions in the financial institutions and enterprises, or while working in businesses and public sector organizations and thus performing financial analysis and financial management activities, which include the selection of financial services (crediting, investment, financing, risk insurance) and the assessment of their riskiness and suitability for a particular customer, along with business financial management and control. The programme graduates will acquire the knowledge and skills that are required for setting up and managing their own businesses, working in businesses, public sector organizations, financial services and consulting firms.
Learning outcomes:
1. Know and be able to apply the fundamental financial, accounting, legal, economic and ethical knowledge and theoretical provisions when analyzing and evaluating the financial industry development trends as well as implementing decisions relevant for financial institutions and corporate sector.
2. Know and be able to apply mathematical and statistical methods and information technologies relevant for the area of finance;
3. Know the accounting principles and methods applied for financial companies and institutions and the forms and methods of providing information to external and internal users; as well as be able to select adequate research methods to analyze this information and to assess the organization's prospects.
4. Know the patterns of the financial industry interaction with the external environment and the principles of the functioning of this industry in the global environment, and will be able to analyze the financial markets, financial institutions and enterprises in the context of the changes taking place.
5. Know the principles of functioning of the main areas of public finance and be able to analyze state institutions sanctions applied to financial industry participants.
6. Understand the core of the financial risk expression in the financial sector and be able to evaluate it by applying the relevant methods.
7. Be able to identify and analyze financial problems occurring in the business, public sector, financial institutions or for households, by assessing a broader economic, legal and political context and using adequate sources of information and methods of analysis.
8. Be able to identify and solve problems of provision of financial services as well as acquisition of these services using knowledge of financial analysis of financial institutions, business or households.
9. Be able to plan, organize, perform and evaluate businesses, public sector organizations or individuals lending, investment, financing, financial risk insurance solutions.
10. Be able to analyze and assess the organization's financial condition, correctly and in accordance with the procedure laid down to provide adequate information to internal and external users.
11. Know and correctly apply the financial professional’s relevant ethical requirements.
12. Be able to analyze and forecast the organization's cash flows and budgets and to execute financial control.
13. Have social and communication skills to convey knowledge and understanding of financial analysis and management as well as knowledge and understanding of utility and risk assessment related to financial services and products for professionals and individuals in accordance with professional ethics and citizenship.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Student-oriented teaching methods are applied: lectures, discussions, workshops, laboratory classes; students perform information retrieval and synthesis tasks, case studies. Object of student’s self-dependent tasks are either real or hypothetical situations. Results of independent work are summarized in individual and group works or final projects and must be presented during the seminars. Final projects must be defended in a formal manner. Teachers consult students in classrooms and interact online, using Moodle tools.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Evaluation methods and criteria applied to assess study results are presented in the description of each subject and are known in advance to students. Results achieved are assessed using cumulative score method. Final evaluation is based on semester pooled control, presentations, self-evaluation of the work, and the session considered a written exam, which accounts for 50 percent. Final projects must be defended officially and are valued by commission.

Subjects of general university studies: Introduction to Studies; Philosophy, Fundamentals of Law. Subjects of the Finance study field consists of 180 credits. These subjects include: Specialty Language, Accounting, Microeconomics, Fundamentals of Finance, Macroeconomic, Financial and Business Information Systems, Professional Foreign Language (English / French / German), Quantitative Decision Methods in the Social Sciences, Public Finance and Tax Authorities, Financial Markets and Institutions, Credit Market Participants, Payment Services Market, Research and Methodological Foundations, Professional Ethics and Investor Behavior, Business Finance, Finance and Tax Law, The Financial Instruments Market Participants' Activities, Investment Projects Management, Public Institutions Finance, Financial Markets and Institutions Regulation, Insurance, Private Banking, Financial and Real Investments, Financial Risk Management. Studies are completed by the accomplishment of Internship and defense of Bachelor final research project. Three subjects (18 credits in total) from other than Finance study field include: Mathematics, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Commercial Law.

Three groups of elective subjects for 24 credits are included. Students can freely choose subjects for 12 credits from any field of studies; 1 alternative subject for 6 credits from the subjects in Finance field (International Finance / Marketing of the Financial Services), 1 alternative subject for 6 credits from the subjects in: Law field (EU Finance Law / Fundamentals of the Eurasian Economic Union Customs Regulation), and 1 alternative subject for 6 credits from the subjects in other study fields (Marketing Innovation and Neuromarketing / Service Management / Entrepreneurship and Self-employment)

The content of the study programme and its orientation to maintain sustainable financial system and create framework that would meet the needs for financial services, leads to a wide range of career alternatives for the programme graduates. Graduates will be able to work in financial institutions, business organizations, public institutions performing activities of financial managers, financial services brokers, investment managers, risk governors, as well as will be able to carry out consultation activities or create their own businesses and carry out the financial management functions in it themselves.

Graduates will acquire competences enabling to pursue master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, management or business fields, as well as will be able to seek professional postgraduate certificates in the financial field.
