General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The objective of Intellectual Property Law Programme is to prepare highly qualified Intellectual Property Law specialists, knowing the peculiarities of legal protection of Intellectual Property on the International, European and National levels, able to explain the latest Intellectual Property law issues and trends, to analyse and assess legal solution related to exploitation and enforcement of Intellectual Property rights, promptly and effectively deal with legal problems of Intellectual property protection, conduct research and provide logical, motivated, efficient solutions.
Learning outcomes:
1. Ability to plan the learning process independently and purposefully, to choose the direction of professional activities’ development, to adapt to the changing work environment and to act in a multicultural environment responsibly, honestly and transparently.
2. Ability to analyse and explain system of Intellectual Property objects, the interrelation of the objects, the principles of legal protection of Intellectual Property, ability to analyse and explain National, European and International Intellectual Property legal sources and identify their scope, ability to find the most effective legal mechanism (National, European, International or their combination) for the protection of Intellectual Property objects exploited in business.
3. Ability to analyse and synthetize information necessary for scientific research in the field of Intellectual Property law, to follow developments of business demands related to the exploitation of the Intellectual Property objects and novelties of the legal protection of Intellectual Property, to clearly and unambiguously formulate logical conclusions based on Intellectual Property law knowledge, to convey the information to different audiences.
4. Ability to advise on issues related to Intellectual Property Law, to deal with a wide range of legal problems, including extremely complex, when there is incomplete or limited information, to provide suggestions that would enable the reduction of the rise of problems detected as well as interests alignment and satisfaction of the individual business participants.
5. Ability to participate in dispute settlement as a consultant on legal protection of Intellectual Property and give recommendations on the matter independently or as a team member in multicultural business environment.
6. Ability to implement the knowledge on the legal protection of Intellectual Property in order to self-initiate, develop and manage transnational and European business, ability to make social responsible and ethical decisions in the multicultural business environment
7. Ability critically analyse and assess the compliance of national legislation with the European and International legal acts, ability to identify and asses imperfection of Intellectual Property legislation in force, ability to provide proposals on the necessary changes of legislation in force as well as on adoption of new legislation in order to improve business environment.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study programme is the first joint programme in Lithuania in the field of Intellectual Property Law carried out in two higher education institutions – Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania) and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine). The study programme will be performed in English language and it will give individuals the opportunity to gain a Master of Laws degree in two higher education institutions.

Graduates who have successfully completed joint master programme Intellectual Property Law and earned Master of Laws degree will have excellent career opportunities both in graduates’ home country and abroad. Degree holders will be able to work in the public sector (for example, in the European institutions, international institutions, national parliaments, governments, international, regional and national courts, quasi-courts, regulatory agencies, other supranational, state and municipal administration entities, engaged in legal framework architecture, administrative regulation, fighting law infringements or dispute settlement related to intellectual property protection) as well as in private sector (legal consulting service providers, companies working in any business sector and dealing with intellectual property protection), in academic and research institutions.
Excellent possibilities of graduates’ career and employment can be demonstrated by the fact that the joint master programme will be carried out in the universities of two different countries. This will give students the opportunity to gain more diverse and versatile experience, get more knowledge and skills, improve professional foreign language skills, gain international work experience and develop the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Access to further study:
Upon successful completion of the joint study programme the individuals will have the opportunity to continue their studies with a PhD.
