General Description: Objective(s) of a study programme: Fashion design study programme aims to educate fashion design professionals who are able to respond to market needs; design clothing collections individually and in a

team; practically implement creative ideas for industrial and unique/unitary production in the fashion industry; who are familiar with the basic principles of fashion marketing; who are able to assess the business environment in the fashion industry, and who are able to organise the activities of fashion designers. Learning outcomes: 1. Knows the main concepts of fashion design, its historical and contemporary evolution by analysing design phenomena and tendencies. 2. Applies the knowledge and abilities of fashion design when creating projects using various means of visual expression. 3. Knows the main sewing technologies and fabrication methods and applies them when implementing creative ideas. 4. Knows management principles, legal environment, health and safety requirements related to professional activities. 5. Able to analyse, assess and generalise the information for implementing creative ideas. 6. Able to analyse and assess the specifics, processes, and business prospects of the fashion industry. 7. Able to conduct research on customers’ needs and use its findings to implement creative ideas. 8. Perceives the peculiarities of fashion design and applies knowledge when creating ideasfor design projects. 9. Able to create design projects for industrial production using personal creativity and teamwork experience. 10. Able to experiment while creating collections of unique designs. 11. Able to apply means of artistic expression, advanced technologies, innovations when designing textile. 12. Able to apply practically the innovations of fashion industry and advanced technologies. 13. Able to perform and experiment with model constructions when designing clothing collections. 14. Able to present creative projects using digital visual communication information technologies. 15. Able to work in a team following professional ethics, social and moral responsibility, communicate in the state and foreign languages. 16. Able to study independently, make decisions, plan personal activities perceiving the importance of lifelong learning. 17. Perceives customer’s needs, analyses customers’ behaviour, and presents personal

idea through a unique story telling. Activities of teaching and learning: Lectures, presentations, discussions, seminars, demonstrations, creative practical assignments, group work, literature study, project preparation, etc. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Learning achievements are assessed using accumulative assessment system. Knowledge and skills are assessed by ten grades scale. The final score may consist of several components, collected in the study process (interim reports, self-study papers, examination or project). Study subject teacher determines accumulative assessment of the subject components and their values of the coefficients depending on the complexity of the subject. Study subject teacher determines and informs the students at the beginning of the term about the impact (percent) of each component (task, work) for final assessment and formulates assessment criteria for each intermediate assignment. Framework: Study subjects (modules), practical training: Volume of general subjects of collegial studies consists of 15 credits: Foreign Language 1 (English) Level B2 / Foreign Language 1 (English) Level C1, Foreign Language 2 (English) Level B2 / Foreign Language 2 (English) Level C1, Philosophy, Oral and Written Communication, Intercultural Communication. Volume of subjects of the basic study field consists of 141 credits: Drawing 1, Painting, Computer Graphics 1, Basics of Clothing Composition, Sewing Technology and Materials Sciences, Art and Costume History, Drawing 2, Fashion Illustration, Clothing Design 1, Construction and Sewing 1, History of Fashion, Drawing 3, Fabric Design, Clothing Design 2, Construction and Sewing 2, Basics of Design, Computer Graphics 2, Clothing Design 3, Construction and Sewing 3, Contemporary Fashion, Fashion Photography, Clothing Design 4, Special Textile Technology, Social Psychology, Basics of Fashion Marketing, Brand Management, Construction and Sewing 4, Business Law, Business Creation and Development, Human Safety, Sales Planning, Market Research. Volume of professional practices consists of 30 credits (Creative Project 1, 2, 3 (Internship), Industrial Internship, Final Internship) and the Professional Bachelor

Thesis consists of 15 credits. Specialisations: - Optional courses: Volume of optional courses consists of 9 credits for free elective study subjects. One can deepen the knowledge in a chosen field of studies by selecting specialized subjects of the study field and choose subjects from the general list of free elective study subjects suggested in the college Study Management System (STS). Fashion Design study programme offers the following free elective study subjects for the students of other study programmes of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences: Basics of Colour Scheme / Creative Workshops, Basics of Practical Research Methodology / Etiquette and Basics of Protocol, Fashion Industry Perspectives / Creative Workshops. Distinctive features of a study programme: Fashion design study programme differs from the other similar programmes realized by the fact that students learn to design fabric with the help of software and other innovative technologies, to produce the designed fabric. They are taught traditional and non-traditional methods of decorating fabric. Students use the unique fabric when designing collections. They also organise the annual student international fashion event "Gossip". Access to professional activity or further study: Access to professional activity: Upon graduation, the graduate will be able to work in the fashion industry, occupy managerial positions, establish legal entities and/or engage in individual creative activity by the procedure set by legislation. Access to further study: After completion of this study programme, further studies can be continued in any Lithuanian or European higher education institution with academic credits transfer.
