Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
The objective of Hygienic and Decorative Cosmetology programme is to prepare specialist who is able to perform cosmetological facilities and to control their quality, to arrange permanent cosmetological services, to be engaged in advertising and marketing of beauty products, equipment and implements, educational activity and to launch cosmetological business.
Learning outcomes:
Demonstrate ability to communicate orally and in written form. Choose learning strategies and methods. Demonstrate communicative possibilities of information technologies. Analyze the effect of cell processes on human body activities. Evaluate the condition of skin and/or its derivatives. Identify customer’s needs for beauty services. Make beauty service plan for face, body and nail care and use of decorative cosmetics. Choose beauty products, materials, instruments and apparatus for face, body and nail care and decorative beauty procedures. Analyze the effects of physical, chemical and mechanical agents used in beauty therapy. Perform facial procedures. Perform body care procedures. Perform hand and/or foot skin and nail care procedures. Perform procedures with decorative cosmetics. Perform procedures of aesthetic medicine within the framework of competence. Carry out procedures of rehabilitation cosmetology within the framework of competence. Plan SPA procedures in accordance with the provisions of holism. Perform SPA procedures. Provide consultations regarding beauty services. Apply quality requirements for beauty services at all stages of rendering beauty services. Demonstrate first aid skills. Plan, implement and spread the results of beauty therapy investigations. Plan and organize beauty service business. Advertise beauty services and cosmetic products.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
Students acquire various cosmetology services, communication, collaboration, marketing and entrepreneurship skills. The majority of professional practice practitioners are organized at the Department of Beauty Therapy of the Vilnius kolegija/University of Applied Sciences Faculty of Health Care.

Access to professional activity:
Graduates will be able to work in the enterprises providing cosmetological facilities, public and personal health care institutions, art structures, in advertising and marketing areas, to work independently in small and average business companies, the area of which is to provide cosmetological service.
Access to further study:
After completion of bridge courses or fulfilling other requirements of the accepting institution, access to the second cycle university studies.
