General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare dental technicians who are able to independently manufacture ordered dentures, jaw and facial prostheses, orthodontic devices and splints and who have the skills to organise the activities of a dental care (assistance) institution.

Knowledge and its application
1. Is aware of the national and international health monitoring policy, normative documents, which regulate the place of work, environment and safety at work,
applies provisions of legal acts on health and documents of professional ethics in practice, provides professional information within the limits of his/her expertise.
2. Is able to integrate knowledge of biomedical science forming perception of human growth, development and health, and knowledge of dental technician practice.
Abilities to carry out research
3. Is able to conduct applied research focused on the practice of dental technicians, following the principles of research ethics, and apply the obtained results in professional activities, ensuring the quality of evidence-based activities.
Special abilities
4. Is able to ensure infection control and safety requirements for equipment and materials in accordance with the requirements of normative documents.
5. Is able to recognize pathological oral changes and occlusal anomalies.
6. Is able to work with equipment, devices, instruments and materials used in the manufacture of dentures, jaws and facial prostheses, orthodontic appliances and splints as intended.
7. Is able to model and construct dentures, jaws and facial prostheses, orthodontic devices and splints of various constructions, applying appropriate technologies for their production, in cooperation with the dentist to discuss their design and color suitability for a particular patient.
8. Is able to identify and correct inaccuracies or deficiencies in dentures, jaws and facial prostheses, orthodontic devices and splints, selecting the necessary materials, tools and equipment to eliminate these deficiencies.
9. Is able to identify life threatening conditions and to react properly there to, is able to provide necessary medical aid in urgent cases.
10. Is able to plan, coordinate and control the organizational processes of the dental laboratory (activity registration, coordination, management of business and medical documentation, advertising, provision of tools, etc.), using modern information technologies.

11. Is able to communicate and collaborate in team activities in the provision of dentalcare services; communicates in a professional environment in Lithuanian and a foreign language.

14. Is able to collect and systematize information, use modern technologies and information systems in dental technician practice, properly handle confidential information.
Activities of teaching and learning:
In order to achieve study results, various interactive teaching methods (analysis of cases, reflection, interactive lecture, observation, analysis of best practices, making and reasoning assumptions, role-play games, etc.), independent work and related methods are intended in the descriptions of subjects. Constructionist learning approach. Learning going the best, when the learner is actively developing real-world objects. To realize this training helps not only the information and communication technology (ICT) but also captured the experience of others.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The most common form of assessment in the College is an exam or project, depending on the results of the study programme. The results of College students’ are assessed by the ten-grade assessment system. The form of the exam of general subjects is combined (written questioning, oral questioning, tests, etc.), and the form of the exam of speciality subjects that develop special subject competencies is an objective structured clinical situation with the help of simulation and/or dummy “patients”.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
A modern training base is provided to support the progress in dental technology. Advanced dental prosthetics and digital technologies are used in the study process. Part of the study program performed in foreign language (English).

Access to professional activity:
Graduates of Dental Technology study programme may work in in dental prosthetic laboratories with dental care (help) the institution's license. Dental Technology studies of the first cycle of Dental Care study field (professional Bachelor’s studies) shall be oriented to the preparation of a professional dental technician able to perform practical activity:
o manufacture of dentures, jaws and facial prostheses, orthodontic appliances and splints; organization of the work of the laboratory of dental technicians and self-professional development.
Access to further study:
After completing dental technology college study and obtained the Health Sciences professional bachelor's degree, graduates may continue their studies according to university study in the field of health sciences, dentistry study of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences or University of Vilnius or other fields studies at Mykolas Romeris University, Vytatas Magnus University. There is an opportunity to continue studies in foreign higher education institutions.
