Summary of the Profile

General Description: Objective(s) of a study programme: To provide a university level education in the field of animation in accordance with European standards; to prepare art practitioners who are able to reflect on art theories, think critically and create cultural and socially relevant animated art projects; be able to rightly chose and apply a variety of visual and narrative methods, styles and technical innovations in order to achieve creative goals; be an active member of society, able to envision and actively participate in the processes of social and cultural importance, contributing to positive changes in the community, country and the world. Learning outcomes: The graduate of the program will be able to discover, compare and evaluate the events and tendencies of contemporary audiovisual art, film and animation in Lithuania and the world, also to evaluate her own creative work and the works of other artists in a wider socio-cultural context. Will be able to effectively integrate research technologies and data from different fields of art and science within own animated project, also be able to extract and apply relevant research results in individual creative and research activities. Will be able to generate and implement original art ideas, professionally develop her own work, understand the peculiarities of animation as a unique form of art, also its similarities to and differences from the other types of audiovisual expression; will be able to master the key technical aspects of animation creation, be familiar with the production pipeline. Will be able to manage both hand-drawn as well as multidisciplinary and technically diverse creative projects. Will be able to present them to wide and diverse audience, nationally and internationally, to discuss artistic content in a professional and popular settings. Activities of teaching and learning: Theoretical and practical seminars, creative workshops, creative/professional internships, colloquia, lectures, individual consultation, group discussions. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Reviews, Exams. Although, this is an individual artistic practice lead course, it is well seated within a robust theoretical framework; thus it is reasonable to envision a good balance between schooling in animation techniques and exposure to contemporary philosophical ideas pertinent to animation and audiovisual media. Also, the program is composed of a well-known internationally and nationally faculty members. Access to professional activity or further study: Access to professional activity: Highly qualified specialist of art directorial caliber, capable to initiate and lead short artistic projects, long features fand /or animated series. Access to further study: Eligibility to pursue doctorate studies.
