Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare lawyers with advanced
competencies in business law and trade law,
capable of practicing internationally and
providing high quality legal services to
individuals and legal entities, international
corporations, governments and international
trade organizations, respectively on issues
ranging from business forms, their governance
and means of financing, dispute resolution to
compliance with WTO rules, international
investment law and other legal issues relevant
to the development of business and trade.
Learning outcomes:
1.1. To know and understand the principles of
international business and trade law and
problems of individual legal institutes in the
context of a specific legal system, as well as in
the context of European Union and international
legal regulation of international business and
trade.
1.2. To know some of the theories of economics
and management and other social sciences
related to the law science, to be able to link
them with legal problems in the international
business and trade law field, and to use in
applied research and in legal practice.
1.3.To be able to apply the acquired knowledge
when providing legal advice in international
business and trade law and deciding on the most
suitable course of action, in complex
circumstances where thorough and defined
information is missing.
1.4. To have the skills of scientific and logical
discussion regarding philosophical aspects of
law, concepts of international law; to understand
the main theories of law science representing the
essence of law, its purpose and role in society.
2.1. To be able to apply theoretical and
empirical international business and trade law
research methods.
2.2. To be able to find and use national and
international information resources, to evaluate
their credibility, to use scientific and legal
databases and modern information technologies,
and to be able to interpret scientific research
results.
2.3. To be able to legally evaluate a practical
problems relevant to the fields of international
business and trade law.
3.1. To be able to make decisions in the
situations that require broad, deep and critical
summary (judgement) of research and practical
knowledge and experience relevant to the field
of international business and trade law.
3.2. To be able to make critical and systematic
analysis of the knowledge in international
business and trade law field, and to apply the
knowledge for solving tasks; to be able to
systematize, interpret, compare and evaluate
legal documents, prepare constructive
suggestions for the improvement of these
documents.
3.3. To be able to make logical, critical and
systematic analysis of different types of legal
documents in international business and trade
law field, to assess their legal nature, meaning
and impact in broader context of legal regulation.
3.4. To be able to analyse and assess persons’
activities in the context of legal principles and
provisions of international business and trade
law, following the doctrine of science and
international experience.
3.5. To be able to represent and co-ordinate
representation of rights and legal interests of
individuals and organisations on matters related
to international business and trade law, in
accordance with professional ethics and treating
confidential information in a proper manner, as
well as to assess efficiency of representation.
3.6. To be able to analyse legal activities, to
adjust one’s activities according to the analysis
of results, to make professional decisions in a
timely manner, to evaluate consequences and
risk of decisions, to be a creative provider of
legal services, to have critical and reflective
thinking and to adapt successfully to the
changing work environment.
4.1 To be able to work at international context
and be able to express own attitude in fluent and
reasoned manner in professional and
interdisciplinary environment, assuming
responsibility for development and
strengthening of lawyer’s profession, using
professional terms in English language, using
research and practical experience for reasoning.
4.2. To be able to render knowledge, abilities
and skills to specialists and co-students;
4.3. To show leader’s capabilities in national and
international contexts.
5.1.To be able to make critical judgment on own
and others’ professional practice, knowledge and
values and to be able to make systematic
reflection over one’s own professional growth,
choosing independently the path of selfimprovement.
5.2. To be ready to make independent decisions
in the situations that require broad, deep and
critical summary (assessment) of research and
practical knowledge and experience on matters
related to international business and trade law, to
model decision-making strategies and to assess
the impact of adopted decisions in social and
ethical respect.
