Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme: the Study Programme aims to train specialists, who are able to undertake pedagogic work at both formal and informal education institutions; can organise music groups therein as well as organise and lead their work; have pedagogic, music, psychological knowledge and are capable of using it in practice; are capable of thinking critically and creatively; are receptive and open to novelties; are active members of the civil society; act as guardians of music education and cultural life; and strive for and are capable of independent work, learning and life-long improvement.
Learning outcomes: competence of critical and self-critical thinking; ability to create new ideas (creativity); ability to work and improve independently and considering continuous changes in areas of pedagogy and performance; ability to use information technologies; ability to organize, manage and plan various music activities (lessons, events, concerts, performances, extracurricular activities, etc.) at different education institutions; ability to apply various music education methods considering learners, objectives to be achieved and available possibilities; ability to effectively use theoretical knowledge (possibilities of a musical ear, musical repertoire, musical language, and in-depth knowledge of interpretation traditions applicable to different styles, genres and forms of music) for music teaching and performance; ability to understand, communicate, recognize and shape cultural diversity, traditions, values, norms of behaviour and worldviews to people of different ages; ability to understand and use interrelations between theoretical and practical studies.
Activities of teaching and learning: individual and group work, pedagogic practice, individual sessions, seminars, debates, case studies, observation, reflection, personal sense and emotional imitation method, distance learning, drafting a paper, methods of Personal Sense and Emotional Imitation.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Final exam, exam, intermediate assessment, presentation of group work, portfolio of professional practice, defence of Bachelor theses, open lesson.
Study subjects (modules), practical training: Study field subjects, Profound subjects, General university subjects, Elective subjects, Professional practice.
Distinctive features of a study programme: the Study Programme is a unique first cycle study programme of the Academy, which trains specialists able to undertake pedagogic work at formal and informal education institutions. The Study Programme stands out in terms of especially strong relationship between musicology, art of performance and pedagogic practice.
Access to professional activity: graduates can work pedagogical work in various formal (school, gymnasium) and informal (kindergartens, cultural centers, music schools, church centers, etc.) institutions of education, establish musical ensembles, engage in independent artistic practice, teach music persons of different age, prepare them for musical contests, organize choirs, vocal ensembles, musical festivals and competitions.
Access to further study: after successful completion of the Study Programme graduates can continue studying Master’s degree.
