Student-chosen electives are intended for deeper specialization in the same field (branch); here also belong free-choice electives (the total of 48 credits, including 39 credits for the courses in Units A or B, and 9 credits for the free-choice subjects). Deeper specialization is understood as the development of student‘s knowledge and abilities in the chosen field of music performance: choir music (alternative A) or instrumental music (alternative B). Given the chosen specialization, in Semesters 4 to 8, students choose one of the two courses: Choir Lab or Orchestra Lab; singing or playing an instrument. In year 4, student can choose one of the music performing courses in compliance with their specialization (singing, conducting, or playing an instrument). Free-choice electives are allotted 9 credits (in Semesters 4 and 5). Students‘ choices usually follow two directions: deepening of the music competence (e.g., students choose the courses of Composition, Folklore Lab, Intro to Folk Instruments, etc); or 2) deepening of the general pedagogical competence (students choose, e.g., Family Pedagogy, Intelligence Theory, etc.). The courses aimed to develop common competencies are chosen less frequently (e.g., students choose the courses of Environmental Protection, Public Health, etc. not very often).
