Summary of the Profile

General Description: Objective(s) of a study programme: Objective of the study programme is to prepare qualified specialists who are able to assess multimedia product and digital communication demand in the market as well as opportunities for business, design and justify new product concepts, design and develop products and systems that would meet competitive market needs. Study programme is designed to prepare professional Bachelors in Multimedia Technologies who would be able to work as engineers in various advertising and marketing, telecommunication, publishing, tourism, trade enterprises, education institutions, e-publishing enterprises or subdivisions, organize and manage multimedia product development. Learning outcomes:

1. To survey and analyse IT, multimedia and digital communication market. 2. To analyse, master and apply multimedia product design technologies. 3. To generate and implement creative solution ideas. 4. To prepare a technical task for multimedia product/system. 5. To prepare and process textual, graphical, video and audio information required for multimedia product development. 6. To design and create multimedia products; install product development systems. 7. To test out products, analyse their adherence to standards, compatibility and relevance, and optimize them. 8. To introduce and deliver products for customer to publish in various media. 9. To plan, organize and manage Multimedia product development processes. 10. To communicate with market participants and work in team. Activities of teaching and learning: Lectures, seminars, practical assignments, laboratory work, individual/group work, presentation, discussions, practice, course projects, graduation project, self-study. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Cumulative assessment system is applied to assess student’s learning outcomes. Grading system based on a ten-point scale is used to evaluate student’s knowledge and skills. Cumulative assessment system comprises intermediate achievements, self-study/ individual work and examination or project. Cumulative assessment system is subject to change regarding to the study subject. Assessment order, system and criteria are based on principles of validity, credibility, clarity, usefulness and impartiality. Framework: Study subjects (modules), practical training: General study subjects – 15 ECTS (Specialty Language, English Language, Philosophy). Main study field subjects – 135 ECTS (Mathematics, Physics, Information Technologies, Occupational Safety, Database Management Systems, Computer Graphics, Programming, Marketing Planning and Management, Media Communication, Basics of Law, Business Economics, Management, Electronic Publishing, Graphic Design, Visualization and Modelling). Courses of deeper studies of the same study field – 21 ECTS credits (2D Animation, 3D Animation, Video and Audio Technology,

Digital Printing Technology). Practice: 1. Information Communication Technology (6 ECTS credits) 2. Multimedia Product Design 1 (9 ECTS credits) 3. Multimedia Product Design 2 (6 ECTS credits) 4. Final Practice (9 ECTS credits). Professional Bachelor Thesis (12 ECTS). Specialisations: - Optional courses: Elective course units 9 ECTS credits. Students may choose subjects from Multimedia technology study programme or other study programmes. Multimedia technology study programme offers 6 study subjects, each of them comprising ECTS credits. Distinctive features of a study programme: Multimedia Technology study programme was designed and implemented in 2005 as a unique study programme in Lithuania. The study programme was designed together with partners from Denmark, who currently participate in programme’s implementation and development. A set of study subjects for one semester (30 ECTS credits) is taught in English for foreign students. Access to professional activity or further study: Access to professional activity: Graduates work in various Lithuanian and foreign business enterprises and state institutions: design, advertising, tourism, architecture media, publishing, IT enterprises, e-management, tax and social insurance institutions, national television studios, production companies, etc. Graduates successfully design various advertising production, websites, process and product visualisations, e-publications; program various management processes, prepare, film and edit television shows, concerts, cultural and sports events. Some graduates successfully start and develop their own business. Access to further study: Upon completion of the study programme, the graduates exercise the right to enrol in Master’s degree study programme in other national and foreign higher education institutions.
