Summary of the Profile

Objectives of a study programme:
The aim of Social pedagogy study programme is to prepare a specialist who can organize preventive work, to work with pupils groups and theirs families, to educate for the communication and cooperation skills, to promote personal and professional development of social pedagogue.
The program aims to develop a specialist who can help the learner for better adaptation to the society, educational institution, to use all opportunities for development, learning, growing and also to be able to form a team and work with the client's environment for better educational results.
Learning outcomes:
Graduates will be able to:
1. Evaluate pupil’s environment and the need for prevention;
2. Develop and implement prevention and social projects;
3. Analyze the effectiveness of preventive work;
4. Assess pupil needs and social problems;
5. Solve problems related to the integration of socio-cultural differences;
6. Organize activities of risk group children;
7. Assess the effectiveness of social pedagogical impact;
8. Assess social environment of families;
9. Organize social support for families;
10. Coordinate social pedagogical assistance in communication and cooperation with institutions;
11. Communicate and collaborate with pupils and others participants of educational process;
12. Perform researches of applied activities;
13. Evaluate professional activities of social pedagogue.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, presentations, discussions, seminars, demonstration, practical exercises, group work, literature analysis, projects, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Studies are conducted and students knowledge and skills are valued of ten rating system. Studied subjects are completed by exam or project work depending on the study outcomes. The final score may consist of several components, assembled in the study process (medium exam, independent work, exam or project). Lecturer establishes components of subject cumulative assessment and the coefficients of its values depending on the complexity of the subject and its impact on learning outcomes. At the beginning of the semester, lecturers identify and inform students about influence of each component (task work) (in percent) for final evaluation and formulate the criteria for the intermediate target of evaluation.

Full-time study practices take place in stages: semester 2 – professional practice of social pedagogue and pedagogue (9 credits), semester 6 – final practical training (21 credits).
Part-time study practices take place in stages: semester 5 – professional practice of social pedagogue and pedagogue (9 credits), semester 7 - final professional practical (21 credits).
Pedagogue work (3 ECTS), Final work (9 credits). Studies are completed by the final work presentation at the qualification commission meeting.
Optional courses:
15 credits of the study program are ordered for the optional studies.
