General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare sociologists with strong analytical competencies that are able to apply knowledge from sociology, psychology and related subjects in their professional activities, are able to interpret societal, organizational and group processes, to conduct social research and propose evidence based solutions for social problems.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and Its Application:
A1 Ability to apply sociological theories for understanding and explaining the social environment.
A2 Ability to characterise social and institutional change and ability to explain political, economic and cultural processes from sociological perspective, the laws of social stratification and deviation, the social challenges of environmental and technological change.
A3 Ability to apply basic knowledge of philosophy, psychology, logics, economics and law to the identification and analysis of social problems and phenomena.
Research Skills:
B1 Ability to design social research and to choose adequate research methods.
B2 Competence in conducting quantitative and qualitative social research.
B3 Capability to interpret social research results in the broader social context and to give recommendations for the solutions of social problems.
Subject–Specific Skills:
C1 Ability to use statistical data bases and social data archives.
C2 Ability to analyse textual, graphical and digital information, to use data analysis software.
C3 Ability to present clearly and qualitatively the results of data analysis.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
A graduate has comprehensive knowledge of classical and contemporary theories of sociology and psychology, personality, and organizational psychology, sociology of organizations, technologies and innovations; social change and methodology of social and diagnostic research, understands the importance of social institutions, is able to identify and interpret processes and changes in society, organizations, social groups and individuals, can apply the acquired knowledge and skills to identify social problems, their psychological foundations and project the possible solutions with reference to the results of qualitative and quantitative sociological and psychological research as well as to plan and manage various social projects and programmes.

The graduate can seek employment in governmental and non-governmental sectors and business organizations within analytical areas of public opinion, market research, public relations and communication, consultancy, mass media, public health, science and other areas and sectors that require knowledge and skills to analyse social and psychological processes and phenomena.
