Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:

On the basis of achievement in international level fundamental and applied interdisciplinary science and technologies, to train a specialist of health and physical activity, coach of health-related fitness able to enhance personal and community health at the level of primary prevention, ensuring personal and community physical activity and healthy life-style.
Learning outcomes:

Programme graduate will be able to:
1. Describe the basic patterns of philosophy, global economic and political framework, national and world history, physical education, personal patterns and understand their cognitive limitations;
2. Bring up modern ideas and implement them in practice;
3. Demonstrate scientifically based relevant decisions and understand the social responsibility of dealing with practical tasks;
4. Communicate in the state and a foreign language in the intercultural and intersected team;
5. Understand the principles of effective communication and cooperation, not being afraid to take responsibility;
6. Effectively communicate delivering science-based knowledge to professionals and the public, use modern communication tools and social networks in delivering professional and other information.
7. Understand the importance of social involvement in the planning and implementation of individual, collective activities and evaluate their quality;
8. Establish, engage and coordinate a team to promote change dealing with complex tasks on the basis of modern achievements of applied science;
9. Independently plan and carry out group or individual activities; choose innovative public health and fitness technologies, organizational and methodological tools.
10. Understand their strengths and weaknesses, independently organize and plan their professional and personal learning;
11. Critically analyze, display their personal position on professional issues;
12. Understand personal and societal patterns of health, factors affecting health care, methods detecting health problems;
13. Evaluate the indicators of population health status, suggest ways and means of health risk reduction;
14. Distinguish community or population health needs and substantiate the need for health education and enhancement programmes;
15. Identify environmental factors that affect health, choose the research methods, offer techniques for the management of environmental impact on health;
16. Substantiate and develop as disease and injury prevention programme;
17. Apply organizational, legal, economic, technical, social and public health measures to preserve, strengthen and monitor public health;
18. Define the core of modern basic theories of health promotion and strengthening;
19. Apply various methods of health education and safe, effective and research-based health promotion techniques to promote community healthy lifestyles and physical activity;
20. Coordinate community health promotion activities and to be able to assess their effectiveness;
21. Understand the basic principles and methods of scientific research, research ethics requirements and comply to them;
22. Provide the principles of epidemiological research planning and implementation;
23. Analyze and organize scientific literature, present grounded scientific assumptions;
24. Plan and carry out a scientific investigation, provide its findings and make recommendations;
25. Define the basic health and physical activity policy principles, the impact of policy decisions on the population health and lifestyles;
26. Understand patterns of health economics, apply general legislation acts governing health and business areas in practice;
27. Understand and distinguish the differences between elite sports and the promotion policy of health-related physical activity;
28. Motivate individuals or groups to physical activity, identify their needs and give advice about their lifestyles;
29. Understand biomedical mechanisms of physical activity, determine physical activity of a person or a group, test and evaluate the person’s physical fitness using modern, science-based technologies;
30. Use modern basic science-based principles of prescription and control of physical load for people of all ages and health status, establish the risk of physical activity;
31. Establish a safe and effective physical activity program for people of all ages and health status;
32. Demonstrate performance and technical skills of physical exercise preserving health;
33. Implement and evaluate individual and group exercises, fitness training using innovative, science-based technologies;
34. Know the forms of organization and management of leisure and recreation;
35. Create a business plan (draft) for the development of active leisure.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Involving lecture, movie review, brainstorming, group discussions, debates, problem teaching, independent analytical papers, essays, presentation preparation, projects, group and personal training, observation, etc.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Questioning, testing, diary, project, case study, literature review, preparation of a new model, demonstration, portfolio, report, presentations, practical skill assessment, examination.
