Objective(s) of a study programme:
Emergency medicine training program aims to produce a comprehensively educated, competent, honest, honorable and enthusiastic specialist with the following competencies:
Provide emergency care to patients of all ages, operate within the framework of professional standards of emergency physician;
Work effectively and engage in the administration of the emergency department;
Engage in independent practice and creative teamwork;
Keep up to date with the latest science news and get involved in research activities;
Engage in efficient learning and teaching;
Engage in professional growth and development of communication skills.
Learning outcomes:
Training program in emergency medicine is designed
to train physicians for the practice of emergency medicine. On completion of the program, trainees acquire professional qualification of emergency physician.
Activities of teaching and learning:
During the studies, the following teaching and learning activities are used: lectures, seminars, consultations, group discussions with residents, assistance in the operating theater, surgery video review, daily rounds, discussions, clinical case analyses and their presentation.
Great attention is paid to practical skills, and many courses include work with simulators that mimic the real clinical situations.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Assessment takes place in several steps: assessment of each cycle, evaluation of the year and completion of training program at the end of residency.
An individual interview with the program director can be held at any point to discuss the results of the studies. Special questionnaires are used to evaluate individual resident characteristics. During the interview, the resident is given advice and recommendations about application of knowledge and personal characteristics in their clinical practice.
Methods of assessment include written examinations with open and closed-ended questions and tasks, as well as simulation of clinical situations. Both theoretical and practical parts are assessed in a 10-point system, and the average result is calculated.

Basic skills in emergency department;
Pediatric outpatient care;
Neonatal diseases;
Ultrasound guidance for analgesia;
Diagnostics of neurological problems in the emergency department;
Family medicine;
Major incidents and terrorism;
Acute cardiac conditions and echocardiography in critical care.

Emergency medicine is a unique medical sciences program, integrating and unifying various fundamental and clinical aspects of medicine into a new discipline, which was designed to help patients of all ages, with different urgent and life-threatening conditions.
During their studies, trainees acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in therapy, surgical and pediatric diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, that help to deal with acute medical and emergency conditions.
The specialty was designed to educate a new generation of leaders with a unique approach to the patient and organization of emergency medical services.
