Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:

The main aim of this program is to train qualified specialists for research and academic activities who will work in both formal and informal educational institutions. After completing the study program specialists will be able to design educational activities in physical education for all ages (children, adults, elderly) in different educational settings (formal and informal), to organize, evaluate and develop physical education (learning) process for people of various age groups, to carry out educational research.
Learning outcomes:

Programme graduate will be able to:
1. In collaboration with the education, science, sports and local authorities, make proposals for professional development and promotion of pupils’ physical activity;
2. Carry out analysis and synthesis of information from various sources;
3. Perform research and practical activity report, expert evaluation of professional activities and to present them;
4. Critically evaluate strengths and weaknesses of professional practice, and provide for prospects of professional development;
5. Choose and apply the most effective problem solving ways to solve problems in professional activities;
6. Choose learning strategies, reasoning their choice on the basis of research data and various education theories;
7. Independently plan self-learning process, self-development and professional development of colleagues;
8. Generate ideas and implement them effectively, solve the issues of strategic development;
9. Substantiate ideas for their professional activities, innovation and effectiveness;
10. Demonstrate innovative and creative decision-making methods, their application in practical work and independent research;
11. Develop and manage a team, the work of the group of experts carrying out professional tasks;
12. Develop a program of activities, vision, institution development strategy, manage its implementation and provide for possible changes;
13. Analyze, organize and critically evaluate scientific publications and produce generalized and systematic conclusions;
14. Formulate research questions, problems, select research methods and plan research activities;
15. Using a variety of theoretical paradigms, analyze, evaluate and interpret research results;
16. Know and critically assess modern educational, psychological, biological and physiological research methods and apply them selectively;
17. Perform analysis of movements using a variety of tools for movement research;
18. Demonstrate theoretical knowledge of modern physical culture, education and psychology;
19. Apply knowledge of educational research methodology in the development of projects;
20. Assess practical work situations, make expert assessment in accordance with the provisions of educational theories and provide practical recommendations;
21. Analyze and critically evaluate European and world (WHO, the White Paper, HEPA, etc.) documents related to physical activity, physical education processes and health;
22. Perform research on school activities and evaluate it critically;
23. Analyze education policies and offer competent decisions for educational administration;
24. Develop projects for health enhancement and physical activity promotion for pupils and school community and evaluate their effectiveness;
25. Provide advice how to increase pupils’ physical activity opportunities during the school day and during physical education classes;
26. Provide modern physical education prospects for change, problem solving and realization techniques;
27. Critically analyze and evaluate the newest and prevailing theories, methods and technologies of current sports science, pupils’ physical education, and creatively apply them in practice;
28. Provide differentiated and individualized training programmes according to each pupil’s individual abilities, realize them in practice and evaluate their effectiveness;
29. Critically evaluate PE lessons relying on modern technologies of modelling physical education classes;
30. Provide proposals for the improvement of physical education as a subject and for solving problems.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Student activity and reflection based techniques: group discussion, case analysis, debates, “brainstorming”, self-evaluation of activities, and / or others;
Task-based methods: development of projects, individual or group work, reviews, scientific papers, and / or others;
Information transfer based methods: lectures – contact and distance, counselling, etc.;
Information transfer and student activity based methods: seminars, workshops, practical work, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Oral assessment methods: presentation, etc.
Written assessment methods: research papers, case studies, essays, exam - open, closed or combined testing, etc.;
Integrated (written and oral) assessment methods: projects (individual or group), Master’s thesis and others.
