Summary of the Profile
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare professional bachelors of beauty therapy, who would be able to use curing beauty products by seeking to improve physical appearance and increase self-esteem of a person.
Learning outcomes:
1.1 To describe fundamental features of human‘s existence, the importance of aesthetics in the context of society‘s change and self-development and the relationship of critical, creative, analytical and systematic thinking as well as personal and common-human values.
1.2 To describe perspective of modern society in the analysis of social phenomena by using computer technologies to search, analyze process and save the information.
1.3 To analyze an individual as a physical and spiritual unity. To identify and analyze the needs of society clients‘problems, and creatively model their decisions in accordance with the ethical, psychological and legal norms.
1.4 To demonstrate correct Lithuanian and English languages in social and cultural situations as well as other professional beauty therapy environment.
2.1 To describe the development and change of art history, style and fashion.
2.2 To analyze problems of the field of profession and provide reasonable suggestions on improvement of organization of beauty therapy procedures.
2.3 To apply theoretic specialty knowledge to practical professional activities of a beauty therapist by seeking to improve person‘s physical appearance and to increase person‘s self-esteem.
2.4 To facilitate beauty therapy business organization by applying main peculiarities of marketing and law regulations.
2.5 To apply theoretical knowledge to the evaluation of the specific client‘s situation when preparing beauty care projects and solving practical problems of beauty therapy.
2.6 To demonstrate learning skills, essential for the constant development of professional beauty therapist skills.
3.1 To present the essence of unity and processes of physical beauty and self-esteem.
3.2 To design client‘s beauty therapy sequence through main elements (body care, hand care, foot care, hair care, unification of all the beauty elements into holistic construct).
3.3 To plan and organize beauty therapy services by implementing process of physical appearance and self-esteem unity.
3.4 To follow professional values and ethical norms when implementing process of unity of physical appearance and self-esteem. To work independently and in teams, to communicate and collaborate.
Activities of teaching and learning:
The duration of studies is 3 years (6 semesters). Study courses are equally set out in each semester (6-7 courses each semester). Exams are regularly taken throughout all semesters. The final thesis is to be presented and defended in the 6th semester. Five practices and three optional courses are projected in the program. In the beauty therapy study program various forms of activities (lectures, practice, seminars, individual lecturer’s work with the student and independent student’s work) and methods (discussions, group work, projects, case analysis, tests, etc.) are projected, which will create conditions for the students to reach learning outcomes.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Students‘achievements are evaluated in 10 point system based on the Study achievements regulation. For the students‘evaluation total rating (accumulative) system is used. Learning achievements are evaluated by the formula: IW+CT+EG, whereas IW - independent work (20 % of the final grade), CT - control tasks (20 % of the final grade), EG – exam grade (60 % of the final grade).

Optional courses (3 per 6 months): Computer technologies, Public speaking, Foreign language II, Personality psychology, Career design, Creativity and personal management, Team work, Intercultural communication.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
The program aims to develop students’ holistic view on a person, seeking internal and external unity, i.e. improvement of physical appearance and increasing of personal self-esteem. Student is educated based on common-human competencies, spiritual Christian values, based on which students work with clients. Much attention is paid to the unity of beauty and health responding to the principles of ecological lifestyle.
