Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:

Objective of the study programme Pedagogy is to train teachers, capable to apply educational knowledge in pedagogical practise and independently develop knowledge obtained; able to produse and base on research of pedagogical processes in the changing educational environment; capable to work as subject teacher and to provide professional functions in all types of general education institutions (primary, main school, secondary school); also to work as teachers in programmes of non formal education; to work in vocational schools and colleges.

Learning outcomes:

1.1. Graduates will be able to protect and develope broad culture of Lithuania; to participate in creation of democratic and civic society; will be able to construct system of values of children and will be following general human values;
1.2. Graduates will be able to follow the modern concept of the mission of education; participate in creation of the society of information and knowledge; will be able to integrate knowledge from various fields (science, art); will be familier with tendencies and priorities of social, cultural, economic development of society, it‘s values and will be able to link this with professional activity; will be able to participate in the processes of changes of society and educational sector, basing on achievements of social sphere, science and informational technologies.
2.1. Graduates will be able to apply knowledge and experiece gained in the area of communication and management of information: will competently use language in real and/or virtual professional environment; will be able to communicate in foreign language (-es); will demonstrate skills of leadership, team work, organisational skills;
2.2. Basing on gained knowledge and decissions made, graduates will formulate conclusions and transmit them clearly, also conceptualy and visualy to the audiences of specialists and non specialists; will be able to follow these conclusions in various professional contexts.
3.1. Graduates will know strategies of effective communication and will be able to use them; will be able to solve conflicts; will know peculiarities of project work and will be able to motivate children for such activities;
3.2. Graduates will be able to communicate and cooperate with colleagues and other specialists, parents of children as well.
4.1. Graduates, making research, will be able to base on experience and competences, obtained during BA studies and Pedagogical studies as well, will know and will be skilled to choose and combine appropriate research structure and strategy (qualitative and quantitative methods); will be skilled in choosing resources; organizing and providing research; interpreting results, presenting them, making decisions and reflecting feedback.
4.2. Graduates will know principles and strategies of academic writing; will be able to systematize, analyze, evaluate, interpret data obtained; will be skilled in argumentation; will be able to create analytic text of the professional field.
5.1. Graduates will be able to organise individual and group learning; will be able to purposefully balance artistic experience and educational knowledge, will be able reflect on pluses and minuses of their professional practise, also base on these reflections, planning personal professional growth; will be able constantly analyse educational process and creatively solve professional problems in regular professional context.
5.2. Graduates will be able purposefully update knowledge and develop skills obtained; will have skills, necessary for independent learning; will be active as artists – will develop skills, obtained during BA studies.
6.1. Graduates will be able purposefully and resultativelly participate in school management activities; will be able to start and guide non formal creative initiatives (studios, etc.); will understand reasons and forms of conflicts, raising at school and will be able to evaluate problemic situations at school adeąuatelly.
6.2. Graduates will know and will be able to base on documents, reglamenting work of school; will be able to initiate and be in charge of creative projects (summer camps, exhibitions, etc.); participate in other projects, related with school life.
7.1. Graduates will be familier with hard and soft ware of computers, will be able to use main functions of internet and will be able to integrate modern technologies into the teaching/learning process (prepare presentations, etc.); will be skilled to reveal for children relations between modern technologies and art technologies and will be skilled to expose strategies of combination of these two.
7.2. Graduates will know features of computer literacy of children and will be able to develop these skills of children, basing on principles of aesthetics, systematisation, creativity and safety.
8.1. Graduates will know principles of the creation of safe, aesthetic, functional educational environment, protecting emotional, social, intellectual development of children and will be able to create such: relations will be based not on concurention and competition, but on cooperation of creating individuals; graduates will know how to deal safely and functionally with physical environment; will be skilled in constructive and creative usage of technologies, materials and props;
8.2. Graduates will know peculiarities of the educational environment, necessary for the development of activity, tolerance, creativity, spontanity, individuality, initiative, independency of children and will be skilled to create such; will be skilled to create environment, open for changes and creativity and giving children feeling of safely and making them believe in themselves and others.
9.1. Graduates will know documents, required for successfull educational process (programme, plan, etc.) and will be skilled to follow them and to create them as well; will be able to formulate teaching goals and objectives; to select and combine teaching/learning strategies, necessary for the achievement of goals and objectives formulated.
9.2. Graduates will be skilled to plan resources, necessary for the achievement of goals and objectives formulated (at school, at the excurssion, at the museum, art gallery, workshop, etc.); will be skilled in preparing attractive, inspiring and interesting material for education process.
10.1. Graduates will be familier with the specific of art process, will be able to achieve balance between teaching and consulting, being in charge and leadership, monitoring and assessing; will know and be able to use different interventional psychosocial and educational strategies, helpfull in conflict solving and decission making situations.
10.2. Graduates will know and be able to use different strategies, developing critical thinking, problem solving skills of children and creativity; will be able to participate in the creation of individualised programmes for children with special needs and to implement them.
11.1. Graduates will know formal and non formal strategies of the assessment of children achievements and will be able to combine and use them, taking care about emotional, intellectual, social and physical development of children; will know principles, criterions of assessment of creative processess and their results; will be able to reveal children‘s creative potention;
11.2. Graduates will know strategies of children achievements and will be skilled to use them appropriate way, keeping in mind individual (and special) needs of children; will know modern concept of giftedness and will be able to follow it.
12.1. Graduates will be skilled to bring up ability of children to self-evaluate themselves and have a high self-esteem; will be able to create environment, open for learning and creation joy; will be able to consult;
12.2. Graduates will know peculiarities of learning problems and difficulties (including creative ones) and will be skilled to help children to overcome them.
13.1. Graduates will understand individuality of a child as the main value, connected with the development of child and will be skilled to follow this rule in professional field.
13.2. Graduates will know individual differences of pupils (age, gender, language, social background, giftedness, special needs, learning styles, etc.), will be able to detect features of emotional discomfort of children; to be competent realising special needs and will be skilled to provide additional support; will be able to identify exceptional cases, dangerous for health and psychosocial development of children.
14.1. Graduates will know the context of professional field and challenges of it and will reflect their professional potention in objective manner, keeping high self-esteem and creative ambitions.
14.2. Graduates will be able to make caree planning: to plan, improve and reflect on their professional and creative activities.

Activities of teaching and learning:

Lectures, seminars, independent studies, project work, practises.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Knowledge and skills of students after studies of all subjects (including Practises and Final Thesis) is assessed, using scale (10 –1). Final grade is constructed, using scale principle and combining it with formative assessment principle (evaluated interim tasks).
