Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
Training specialists of multimedia who are able to apply technologies of 2D and 3D modelling, digital audio and video, animation, virtual reality, programming, layout and design of electronic publications, as well as design, create, integrate multimedia products, work in information and communication technology fields, advertising and design agencies and publishing and business companies.
Learning outcomes:
1. Knowing basic laws, regularities and concepts of mathematics and information engineering, principles of fundamentals of information engineering that are necessary to understand the fundamentals of this study field.
2. Applying practical knowledge of information engineering on the features of hardware and software of multimedia, principles of designing, creation, administration and graphic design of websites, audio, video, animation, electronic publications and computer games in analysing and solving qualitative and quantitative engineering problems in the study field of information engineering.
3. Being able to determine a need for multimedia products, analyse competitive products and process research data.
5. Choosing hardware and multimedia technologies and tools of visual communication to create a multimedia product. 6. Designing, creating and improving websites, computer games and products of virtual reality; implementing them into multimedia elements (video, audio, textual, graphics, 2D and 3D animation.
7. Making layout of electronic publications of different type, creating their design with application of special software tools of publishing.
8. Testing and publishing multimedia products in different medias.
9. Applying skills of communication and cooperation, working in teams and groups; presenting issues of information engineering and solutions in writing and orally in correct Lithuanian and at least one foreign language.
10. Organizing and performing activities of a business company (division), transfer professional knowledge, take responsibility for the quality of own and subordinates’ performance.
11. Being able to study independently in the sphere of professional activities, understand moral responsibility for the impact of their performance and its results on the community, preserve the company’s attitude on valuables, and both personal and company’s image.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, seminars, practical assignments, laboratory works, team work, independent work, consultations, practical trainings of professional activities and other teaching and learning activities.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Examinations, tests, preparation and presentation of reports on practical training, preparation and presentation of independent work, preparation and presentation of course projects, preparation and presentation of team projects, and other methods. Examinations and projects are held both orally and in writing. Student achievements during examinations and project defence are assessed from 1 to 10 points. The assessments are divided into three levels of study achievements: excellent, typical and threshold. Assessment from 1 to four are unsatisfactory.

Students can choose optional courses (LPD) from a general list of the optional courses taught at the College: Open Code Systems, Project Management, Business Ethics and Etiquette, Psychology, Program Engineering, Business Philosophy, etc., as well alternative courses: Internet Technologies, Technologies of Electronic Services, Multimedia of Mobile Equipment.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
Studies of multimedia and visual communication integrate technical and creative abilities. Students learn modern technologies of computer aided design, computer graphics and modelling, programming, animation, video and audio, creation computer games and visual reality, technologies of preparation and layout of electronic publications. Big attention is paid to practical training which in performed in the classroom and real companies. During practical training students acquire practical skills and general abilities enabling them to successfully adapt in their job places.

Access to professional activity:
On completing their studies, specialists of multimedia and visual communication will be able to work in the fields of information and communication technologies, government and private companies, advertising and design agencies, publishing and business companies, joint Lithuanian and foreign ventures, or create their own IT business. The graduates will perform works of design and creation of multimedia products and electronic publications.

The graduates can continue their university studies according to the higher education programmes of Information sciences area Information Engineering field.
