Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare a creative and social responsible specialist who is able to design clothing, knows processes of handling and cutting the fabrics, the design of technological sewing flows and work organization, who has common abilities that help to adapt to the changing environment conditions and labor market requirements.
Learning outcomes:
The graduates will demonstrate their:
• Knowledge and understanding of basics of natural, physical, social and technological sciences, understanding of the key aspects and concepts of clothing technology and theoretical basics and ability to apply them in decision making in professional activity.
• Understanding of the information about fashion trends, ability to analyse a sketch or a sample of a clothing item, identify the ratio between an item and a person.
• Knowledge and understanding of the key aspects and concepts of clothing article materials selection, product design, designing, construction, production and maintenance technology and process organisation.
• Knowledge and understanding of the materials used in clothing production, their characteristics and processing peculiarities.
• Knowledge and understanding of key characteristics the principles of organisation of clothing production flows.
• Ability to apply their knowledge and understanding in defining, formulating and solving technological problems of clothing product development and production by using familiar methods.
• Ability to analyse and design constructive-technical documentation of a model and select proper materials, methods and technological equipment.
• Ability to evaluate, select and apply appropriate production design, constructing and modelling methods of clothing.
• Ability to analyse processing technologies of clothing products and to design a rational sequence of a product technological processing.
• Ability to design technological flows of clothing manufacturing.
• Ability to monitor and control technological processes of cutting, finishing and sewing, as well as their quality.
• Ability to plan, manage and evaluate clothing manufacturing processes, apply the principles of work organisation in line with the legal, work safety and environmental, ethical and commercial principles.
• Ability to find appropriate professional information in databases and other scientific and technological information sources.
• Ability to conduct necessary technological experiments, interpret data and draw conclusions regarding the characteristics of the materials used in clothing manufacturing, the influence of the selected equipment on the end quality of a product.
• Ability to adapt to constant changes in professional activity, communicate business likely with the professionals of own area, by conveying study experience and acquired knowledge in clothing technology.
• Ability to take responsibility for effects of technological solutions on the public and environment, compliance with the rules of professional ethics and public spirit.
• Ability to function effectively as individual and as a member of a team by contributing to the work or result.
• Ability to communicate in writing and orally in the native and foreign language with the engineering and technology community and society at large.
• Understanding of ethical, standard and social norms, related to professional performance, and the ability to take responsibility for own actions in achievement of life and professional career coherency.
• Knowledge of the limits of own competence, ability to receive criticism, understanding of the importance of individual improvement for individual professional excellence.
The graduates with the specialization of Mass Customization Clothing Manufacturing will demonstrate their:
• Ability to foresee the specific character of the development and designing of new clothing products, recycling opportunities and quality assurance.
• Knowledge and ability to apply it specific joint technologies of clothing products and original technological solutions.
• Ability to design a product in line with custom requirements by applying various composition and illustration techniques.
• Ability to apply fashion trends and technological innovations to design new clothing collections.
The graduates with the specialization of Massive Manufacturing of Clothing will demonstrate their:
• Ability to organize the processes of clothing manufacturing service supply with reference to activity effectiveness and quality.
• Ability to organize preparation, cutting, sewing and final finishing processes in creating and designing original clothing.

Activities of teaching and learning:
The study process involves the application of various teaching and learning methods, the virtualization of the study process, and the application of contemporary creative technologies. The student-cantered self-study of a student, task-based and group work self-study empathizing problem-based learning and critical thinking. The study programme aims at active students’ participation in the study process, creation of educative environment by applying such methods as: interactive lectures, practicals, discussions, case study analysis, study and analysis of academic literature sources, development of projects, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The achievement of students is assessed following the "Order for the Assessment of Learning Outcomes at Utena UAS" https://www.utenos-kolegija.lt/upload/file_manager/Kolegija/Studiju%20rezultatu%20vertinimo%20tvarka_2017-03-21.pdf). The final assessment of a subject is a cumulative score. Students' achievement assessment formula is introduced in the subject descriptors. Each teacher introduces students to the assessment at the beginning of every subject during their first meeting.
Different methods are used to assess the achievement of the learning outcomes: an examination, a course paper evaluation, an assessment of the project work, practical work assessment, a test, a report presentation and others.

After being awarded with the Professional Bachelor's degree in Technology, the study field of Polymers and Textiles Technology, a person will be able to work in various enterprises of the textile and clothing manufacturing sector. The completion of the studies will also allow setting up of personal business.
Access to further study:
After having graduated from the study programme of Creative Clothing Technologies at the college level, a graduate may proceed with further education for the Master's degree in Technology under the study programme of Fashion Engineering offered by Kaunas University of Technology.
