General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
Prepare a critical-minded personality capable to understand past phenomena and discover their links with current events.
Prepare historians who have fundamental knowledge, are able to use them in further studies and activities related to all kinds of a historical research and promotion, able to use acquired knowledge in education, science and culture institutions, non-governmental organizations and private businesses.
Learning outcomes:
1. The knowledge of basic information about the European history; understanding of its cultural characteristics and differences.
2. The ability to define the basic course of historical events from ancient times to the present day clearly and concisely.
3. The ability to interpret historical sources; explain the causes and impact of historical events and processes.
4. The ability to apply theoretical knowledge and understanding creatively; the acquisition of general cultural, professional, and special competences necessary for historian’s practical activity.
5. The acquisition of abilities and skills necessary for further professional development and the ability to design one‘s own professional career.
6. The ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate activities in the field of history.
7. The ability to convey ideas verbally and in writing, and to orient oneself in the environment of global scientific information.
8. The ability to communicate with professionals and the public in addressing occupational activity or field of study objectives, delivering performance of given knowledge and its results.
9. The ability to use modern IT, employ research in practice and present it to the public.
10. The ability to maintain professional academic language and foreign language skills working independently and in a team.
11. The ability to learn in professional work and study area and plan study process.
12. The capability to formulate self-assessment based on critical thinking and analysis of empirical data.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Within the programme framework students gain theoretical and applied scientific knowledge. The theoretical part is devoted to acquiring the necessary competencies of history and related sciences. During their studies students gain knowledge of modern research methods usage in the studies and acquire practical skills.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
In order to ensure active student work during whole semester, their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and evaluate the results of the studies the University uses cumulative assessment. Study results are being evaluated in individual stages (test, individual work, report etc.) and final grade is the sum of precedent and exam grades. If student fails to complete semester assignments and does not acquire minimum points required to continue his or her studies, he or she is not allowed to pass final exam. Study programme concludes with an assessment of graduate education – thesis defense.

The Bachelor's Degree Program in the History of Europe reveals the evolution and main trends of European society, and helps to understand the idea of a united Europe and to gain European historical experience. Students acquire skills to search, collect, accumulate and systematize scientific information, critically evaluate and analyse it.

Successful completion of an undergraduate degree programme gives ability to work in accordance with the professional qualification, i.e. in the fields of tourism, cultural management, archives, museology, in the primary and general education. non-governmental organizations and private businesses. After completing a Bachelor of Humanities degree, graduates can choose postgraduate studies in various universities.

After completing a Bachelor of Humanities degree programme, graduates can choose postgraduate studies in the field of History or other programmes of Master degree.
