Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the studies of Master Nanobiotechnology program is to train a Master of Nanobiotechnology
with basic knowledge of gene, cell, and tissue engineering, nanomaterials, nanomedicine, diagnostic nanobiotechnology, and microcapsulation of biocomponents, capable of carrying the scientific research individually, analyze the obtained results, and qualified to continue studies in doctoral programs.

Learning outcomes:
- Students understand the principles of biotechnology object studies. Know and assess the advanced biotechnology achievements;
-Students are able to formulate and solve the problems, arising in the newly evolving fields of biotechnology;
-Students are able to use the acquired knowledge and understanding to conceptualize the models, systems, and processes, and to use different methods including the mathematical analysis, numerical simulation, or the experiments;
-Students are able to use the acquired knowledge and understanding in biotechnology to solve the non-typical problems, among them also the ones connected to the other fields of science and technology;
-Students are able to develop new original ideas and methods;
-Students are able to identify, find, and acquire the data needed;
-Students are able to plan and perform the analytical, modelling, and experimental research;
-Students are able to critically analyse the data and to give the conclusions;
-Students understand what kind of methods and protocols of the biotechnology they may apply and are aware of their limits;
-Students understand ethical, environmental, and commercial requirements of the technological and engineering activities;
-Students understand the influence of the technological and engineering decisions for the society and environment, also keep the norms of the professional ethics and technological and engineering activities.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures are given by the qualified teachers with the theorethical and practical knowledge in biotechnologies and the related fields.
The final work is done by student under supervision of the teacher and is based on the scientific research. Laboratory practicals are done using the laboratory equipment thereby developing the hands-on skills.
Classroom practicals are done under supervision of the teacher and making the reports to him.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Written exams, interim examination, lab reports, colloquia, writing short papers on chosen subject and oral presentation
