General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The programme aims to develop professionals who can effectively address the spiritual and social challenges faced by individuals and communities through interdisciplinary knowledge.
Learning outcomes:
1. In pastoral work, is guided by the Christian concept of the person, the Church's moral and social teaching, and the principles of professional ethics.
2. Creatively and critically applies knowledge of psychology and social work to ensure the effectiveness of pastoral work.
3. Conducts applied social research in the areas of sustainable human and environmental development and the reduction of social exclusion.
4. Collects and organises information, ensuring confidentiality, identifying existential problems of individuals and communities.
5. develops and implements plans and projects for pastoral assistance to individuals and communities.
6. Manages the processes of spiritual and social assistance by applying various methods of social work and means of spiritual nurturing of individuals and communities.
7. Communicates and cooperates constructively in Lithuanian and foreign languages to ensure the quality of professional activities.
8. Critically evaluate and reflect on their professional activities, taking responsibility for personal growth and professional development, guided by Christian values.
Activities of teaching and learning:
The study period is 3 years (6 semesters). The subjects are evenly distributed in each semester, with 6-7 subjects each. The study includes lectures, practical classes,
individual work with the student by the lecturer, independent work of the student, and elements of scientific work. Examinations are spread evenly throughout the
semesters. The final thesis is submitted and defended in semester VI. The programme provides for 3 internships, free electives. The pastoral care study programme provides for the use of various forms of classes (lectures, exercises,
seminars, excursions, etc.) and methods (demonstrations, discussions, group work, project work, case studies, tests, etc.) to enable students to achieve the results of
their studies.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Students' achievements are evaluated on a ten-point system in accordance with the approved Procedures for the Evaluation of Student Achievements. A summative
(cumulative) assessment system shall be used for student reports. The assessment of learning outcomes shall be as follows: SP + CP + EP, where SP = independent work
grade (20 % of the final grade); CP = average of the grades of the control assignments (20 % of the final grade); EP - examination grade (60 % of the final grade).

The free elective subjects in the study programme are 9 credits from the list of free elective subjects of the College or other higher education institution.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
The programme is unique in Lithuania and is designed to train specialists who are able to provide professional assistance to people experiencing spiritual crisis and various existential difficulties, working in practical social work in various social
service institutions and communities. The programme is innovative and unique in its objectives and content, as it is based on the synergy of the achievements of social
work, Catholic theology and psychology. International experience: Erasmus+ studies and placements.

Access to professional activity:
Pastoral Care graduates can work as social workers in a wide range of institutions, such as social care institutions, non-governmental organisations, community centres,
health care institutions and schools. They can also provide individual counselling and work with different social groups, including children, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities. Graduates can also engage in project management in social work programmes, carry out research in social work, or pursue a master's or doctoral degree with a view to an academic career.

Graduates of ILK Pastoral Care can continue their studies in the following directions:
Master's degree - you can apply for a Master's degree in social work, theology, psychology or any other social science in Lithuania or abroad.
Doctoral studies - after the Master's degree, you can pursue a doctoral degree in the social sciences, theology or educational studies.
