General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
BA study programme "Real Estate Business and Investment" aims to prepare specialists with comprehensive knowledge of creating, managing, and investing in the real estate sector, capable of effectively applying this knowledge in professional activities, competently addressing both theoretical and practical challenges in the changing environment of the real estate business, and being prepared to continue studies and research in business and related fields, constantly improving through lifelong learning.
Learning outcomes:
1.1. Understands the theories of social sciences, is able to apply them by analysing and assessing the theoretical and practical real estate business management phenomena in versatile and systematic manner;
1.2. Understands the principles of business creation, formation of the organisation’s structure, management principles, and is able to apply the latest knowledge in management theory and solution of organisations’ management problems for assessment of external and internal factors of business environment, and to form suggestions how to improve the problematic areas of real estate business management;
1.3. Is able to apply the latest knowledge in management for interdisciplinary studies or in various areas of professional activities, to analyse critically and to perform complex assessment of real estate business and investment processes within the context of management theories and international changes;
2.1. Is able to carry out research, to apply management methods creatively and critically, to assess the main business laws, concepts and categories, to use achievements and methods of main fundamental and applied research, and to formulate the research conclusions;
2.2. Is able to choose appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methods for research in business environment, to summarise the research results, and to present possible solutions; upon assessment of tendencies of changes in business environment, the person is able to see perspectives of real estate business management;
2.3. Is able to find, process, interpret and apply research results while preparing solutions of real estate business creation and management, as well as investment, problems, and to forecast tendencies of business development in consideration to changes in the environment;
3.1. Is able to collect, structurise, analyse and systemise performance data and decision making peculiarities of organisations of various sizes operating in different fields, to assess the performance results, and to make suggestions, how to improve real estate business management, investment, and on other issues;
3.2. Is able to plan, organize and carry out research in business environment, to prepare real estate business and investment expansion guidelines, to take the aimed objectives and results of analysis into consideration, to use critical thinking in order to choose independently the technological, organisational and methodical measures to carry out research and to highlight the methods, how to improve business activities;
3.3. Is able to assess and forecast changes in real estate business and investment environment, to analyse and systemize research results needed to solve important business-related economic, social and ethical problems, and to make recommendations on solutions;
4.1. Is able to communicate with specialists and society while solving the assignments of professional activities or study field, to convey real estate business management and investment knowledge in writing and orally to specialists, to present the results of performed activities to various audiences, and to discuss relevant professional issues in interdisciplinary environment;
4.2. Is able to express fluently thoughts in writing and orally, to communicate effectively in professional business environment and community;
4.3. Is able to assess the quality of own work and work of subordinate employees, to assume responsibility for its results, and to comply with professional ethics and social responsibility.
5.1. Have abilities to assess critically own professional practice and that of the colleagues, and understands moral responsibility for impact of results of own activities on society’s, economic and cultural development and environment;
5.2. Is able to work responsibly, accurately and independently, to make creative and innovative decisions in complex situations;
5.3. Is able to improve and develop professional competence independently through lifelong learning, to carry out versatile ethical real estate business and investment activities based on projects, creativity, self-expression and innovation.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Various teaching and learning methods are applied in the study process, which correspond to different students' learning styles and needs. To achieve more effective knowledge acquisition, several methods are combined in the teaching of many courses: theoretical, engaging, interactive lectures focused on problem-based learning; exercises and seminars during which students perform practical tasks, analyze cases and situations, prepare presentations on individual topics, participate in discussions, consult peers, prepare individual and team projects in real estate business and investment, discuss sources and visual materials, analyze scientific and other sources and data, etc. In their independent study, they analyze literature, search for information, and prepare written assignments.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
A consolidated assessment is being applied, composed of progress testing (colloquim, control testing, practice tasks, individual and team work task results and their presentation, written paper work, etc.) and written examination or written and spoken assessment.
