Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the programme is to prepare a logistics specialist who is able to manage the activity of a logistic chain, the processes of freight and passenger transportation, as well as organisation of forwarding, transport and logistic enterprises and to work independently and creatively under changing market situation.

Learning outcomes:
1. Knows the theories of fundamental worldview and humanitarian sciences, material, informational and financial flows, passenger and freight transport processes.
2. Will apply knowledge of economics, statistics, management and business organization and regulatory legislation in transport/logistics professional activities.
3. Will analyze the logistics/transportation processes of the company, identify existing problems, see perspectives, ensuring harmonious development at the national and international level.
4. Will plan the activities of the company/department, development/expansion possibilities, after assessing the transport/logistics business environment, market trends.
5. Will apply information systems, empirical research for the analysis of transport and logistics processes.
6. Will manage passenger and cargo transportation processes, ensure their material supply, quality and control.
7. Will manage the supply, purchase and sale, storage, distribution processes by optimizing the number of supply chains, the amount of stock, and storage costs.
8. Will manage logistics information flows using information technology.
9. Will apply knowledge of management and business organization and other sciences for efficient improvement of transport and logistics processes.
10. Will be able to evaluate logistical decisions from an ethical, social, economic and safety point of view.
11. Will be able to communicate in correct Lithuanian and a foreign language.
12. Will be able to critically analyze, argue, discuss in team activities orally, in writing or by other means of communicatio

Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, consultations, practical, coursework, individual and team independent work, case studies, professional practices, study tours, Lectures by business professionals, distance learning, project method, etc.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The student's knowledge, abilities and skills, acquired while studying the subjects provided in the study program, are evaluated when all the work provided by the study program, performed independently by the student during the semester and during the exam sessions, is accounted for. The studies are completed by the presentation of an independently prepared Final Work. The student's study results after completing the subject/module studies are evaluated by assigning them to the achievement levels: excellent, typical and threshold.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
By applying the legal norms of local distribution and international logistics, graduates will be able to organize and plan supply, purchase and sale, warehousing distribution processes, manage passenger and cargo transportation processes, cargo and passenger transportation processes, logistics chain activities and logistics process management information flows. The ability to make business optimization decisions in a timely manner, in connection with logistics activities both within the company itself and outside of it, is consistently developed. The study program pays a lot of attention to future logistics areas. Business relations with social partners, communication and cooperation with forwarding, transport, logistics companies create favourable conditions for obtaining the necessary competences and succeeding in the labour market.

The obtained qualification provides possibility to individually organise and manage processes of logistics that require personal responsibility according legal norms of logistics. To make timely decisions of business improvement, to assure business competitiveness in forwarding, transport and logistics enterprises. With the Professional Bachelor's degree in Business Management, a person is able to work in transport and logistics business enterprises, establish private business and seek for the higher level of academic education.

Access to further study:
Graduates of the transport logistics study program will be able to continue their studies in a master's degree according to university study programs in Lithuanian and foreign higher education institutions.
