General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the study programme:
to prepare general practice nurses who provide quality nursing services in personal health care institutions that provide primary, secondary and tertiary level outpatient and inpatient services to healthy, disabled, disabled people of all ages and their caregivers, who must be healthy lifestyle, applying evidence-based practice, adhering to ethics and general principles of health care and nursing, able to work independently and in a team
Learning outcomes:
1. Independently diagnose, plan, organize and implement care of patients at all level human health care institutions, on the basis of the acquired theoretical and clinical knowledge and skills of general nursing;
2. analyse the quality of care to improve nursing practice by using national and international references, documents regulating activities of the profession, and by carrying out scientific applied research;
3. empower a patient, family, community towards healthy lifestyle skills and independently give advice to, instruct and support patients in need of care and their attachment figures;
4. ensure and assess the quality of nursing actions, procedures of therapeutic interventions and instrumental investigations by using modern technologies of the nursing care;
5. independently initiate life-preserving immediate measures and apply them in acute conditions, crises and disasters;
6. provide nursing services and make professional decisions applying holistic approach in assessment of an individual, observing principles of safety, environment-friendly impact on the surroundings;
7. communicate and collaborate with patients and their tenders, other health care specialists in accordance with the principles of medical ethics and deontology, disseminate professional experience, participate in vocational training of health care personnel.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Problem-solving tasks, literature analysis, concept maps, computerized tasks, demonstrations, role-playing, case studies, projects, scientific article reviews, presentations, reports, information search, analysis of scientific literature and online sources, empirical research methods, report preparation and presentation, self-assessment methods such as practice diaries and self-reflection.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
A cumulative assessment method is applied. Assessment methods: tests, preparation and presentation of case analysis reports, video situation reports and presentations, task performance observation, practical work presentations, portfolio method, group project presentations, individual task presentations, and other.

Anatomy, Physiology, Basics of Pathology. Psychology of Communication. Biophysics, Biochemistry and Radiology. General Nursing. Therapeutic and Special Therapeutic Nursing. General and Special Surgical Nursing. Children Healthcare and Nursing.
Professional Internship - 86 credits:
Professional Internship of General Nursing. Professional Internship of Surgical Nursing. Professional Internship of Maternity Care. Professional Internship of Therapeutic Nursing. Professional Internship of Emergency Care and Intensive Nursing. Professional Internship of Community Nursing. Professional Internship of Geriatric Nursing. Final Evaluation - 10 credits: Final Examination - 3 credits, Final Thesis - 7 credits.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
Studies are organized by integrating various clinical disciplines, pre-clinical practical classes take place in simulation classrooms, clinical nursing studies take place in licensed personal healthcare institutions providing primary, secondary and tertiary level inpatient and outpatient personal healthcare services.
Students are provided with opportunities to study or undertake internships at institutions in other countries through the Erasmus program. Research skills are developed through conducting independent research work.

Access to professional activity:
Graduates can work in licensed personal healthcare institutions providing primary, secondary and tertiary level inpatient and outpatient personal healthcare services, in social care institutions, and in military service.
Access to further study:
The graduates are entitled to a credit transfer system for entering first cycle university study programmes. After graduating additional first cycle university study programmes graduates can enter second cycle university study programmes.
