Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
Prepare public legal specialists (lawyers) of the highest qualification who are capable to provide legal services in public and private sectors at national, regional and international level.
Learning outcomes:
Students are obliged:
1. to acquire competencies based on the global challenges and future studies, to have theoretical knowledge of the EU’s future perspectives based on legal principles, to know new views about the EU’s role in international environment.
2. to be able to understand legal regulation in a complex and multistage legal environment and be able systematically evaluate legal proceses.
3. to be able to evaluate the EU’s legal development prospects of different areas, to indicate problems, identify problems, research and analyze while making sustainable professional decisions.
4. to be able to evaluate from a legal point of view different European union internal policies regulations in a context of international legal regulation.
5. to be able to resolve legal problems, initiate and implement legal projects
6. to be able to integrate the knowledge of multistage legal environment into one comprehensive system and make complex decisions.
7. to be able to communicate complect legal information
8. to be able to apply legal knowledge in a socially responsible manner, to evaluate consequences of the researched area, complex legal relations in multistage legal environment.
9. to be able to combine legal research methods, organize and implement research projects and prepare scientific theses.
10. to be able to deepen legal knowledge in aa particular European law area autonomously and to nurture skills for information selection and systemization.
Activities of teaching and learning:
A variety of learning and teaching methods meeting different students’ styles and needs is applied in study process. In most course delivery process in order to achieve higher knowledge take in a few methods are combined, such as theoretical, engaging, interactive, aiming at case studies type of lecture; practice classes and seminars, when students carry out practical tasks, analyze cases and situations, prepare presentations for separate subjects, participate in discussions, consult colleagues, prepare individual and team projects, discuss references and visual material, etc.; during self-study process students analyze literature, search for information, write academic paper works.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
A consolidated assessment is being applied, composed of progress testing (colloquim, control testing, practice tasks, individual and team work task results and their presentaion, written paper work, etc) and written examination or written and spoken assessment.

Study subjects (modules), practical training:
Study volume of the major subject in credits – 90.
Students do a course in the following master study subjects:
European and international protection of human rights; European Union law; Legal reasoning in the EU law; Internal market and EU citizenship law; Legal research methodology; International and European legal framework for migration and asylum; International and European social security law; Legal project group – case study; Law of competition in the EU; Legal aspects of Europe’s Integration into the Global Economy; External relations of the EU; 30 credits are allocated for final academic paper.

Graduates will be able to work in Lithuanian and the EU’s public administration institutions, legal firms that operate in Lithuanian and cross-border markets, international business and civil society organizations.
Access to further study:
Having accomplished the Master’s Degree study programme of LL. M. European Union Law and Global Challenges, access to further Doctoral studies in the area of Social Sciences is available.
