General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
MA study programme "Aviation Management" prepares professionals to perform complex management functions essential for navigating aviation organizations, to analyze and address operational challenges in a competitive and rapidly changing environment, to develop and implement innovations as well as to perceive aviation management as a holistic system of interconnected activities.
Learning outcomes:
1.1 Is able to understand companies (aviation organizations) and their stakeholders, the external context in which companies (organizations) operate, and knowing how to manage them, evaluating from a long-term and sustainable perspective; is able to understand and systematically apply contemporary management theories in a global, complex, and uncertain environment, aiming to improve business and management practices.
1.2 Is able to anticipate the potential impact that management decisions can have on society and business, understanding and applying the principles of sustainable value creation.
1.3 Have management knowledge based on the results of fundamental and applied scientific research, which forms the basis for the ability to create new knowledge, methods of creating new ideas, concepts and products, and meeting air passengers‘ expectations, and on airport marketing strategies, as well as understanding the need for continuous change management techniques in the fast evolving and continuous changing aviation environment.
2.1. Is able to initiate and organise efficiently the process of ideas generation, critically evaluate and categorise large and diverse information databases, as expected in the aviation sector, for determine their most appropriate and logical usage (e.g. aviation safety and security, operational, strategic and commercial decision-making etc.).
2.2. Is able to think systemically and organise and to carry-out interdisciplinary aviation business and operational research, as well as understanding clearly the nature and needs of the airport business environment through critical evaluation of their interrelations when making key strategic and operational decisions.
3.1. Is able to make strategic, operational and business decisions under uncertainty and variability in a constantly changing aviation environment and to be able to evaluate the potential consequences of these changes and their business impact on aviation industry.
3.2. Is able to manage talents and develop as well as the ability of creating a continuously learning aviation organization, identify and develop the required key competencies, which provide long-run competitive advantages in the aviation sector and their assessment through the appropriate key performance indicators.
4.1. Is able to present ideas and findings clearly and logically for stakeholders operating in aviation sector, take the responsibility in decision-making and implementation of these decisions in an aviation business and operational environment.
4.2. Is able to organize and conduct scientific research individually and in groups, as well as in interdisciplinary teams, evaluate the effectiveness of group work, apply principles of group formation, task delegation, and management, adhere to professional ethics, both in national and international contexts; is able effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) in foreign language in professional environment.
5.1. Is able to innovate, initiate new business projects, and lead them, apply strategic, critical, and constructive thinking when making managerial decisions in complex and uncertain situations, independently improve and expand professional competence through lifelong learning, is able to make decisions based on ethics and sustainable development.
Activities of teaching and learning:
A variety of learning and teaching methods meeting different students’ styles and needs is applied in study process. In most course delivery process in order to achieve higher knowledge take in a few methods are combined, such as theoretical, engaging, interactive, aiming at case studies type of lecture; practice classes and seminars, when students carry out practical tasks, analyze cases and situations, prepare presentations for separate subjects, participate in discussions, consult colleagues, prepare individual and team projects, discuss references and visual material, etc.; during self-study process students analyze literature, search for information, write academic research paper works.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
A consolidated assessment is being applied, composed of progress testing (colloquim, control testing, practice tasks, individual and team work task results and their presentation, written paper work, etc) and written examination or written and spoken assessment.

Graduates of the study programme have opportunities to work as specialists and managers in various management fields in private aviation industry organizations or in the public sector, as internal and external consultants for organizational development and creation, or as experts in specific areas of aviation management activities. Additionally, they can work in aviation businesses, governmental, or non-governmental organizations conducting strategic and operational analysis of companies, organizations, or institutions, research on operational efficiency, identifying improvement and organizational development opportunities, as well as other managerial competence requiring activities. They can also work in the field of scientific or applied research or pursue doctoral studies.

Graduates of Aviation Management study programme have an access to further Doctoral studies in the area of Social Sciences.
