Summary of the Profile

The aim of the Oil product operator modular training programme to develop a skilled worker for the operation of equipment in oil terminals, marketing of petroleum and other products and customer services. This programme is intended for continuing vocational education and training. The purpose of training programme - to create opportunities to acquire professional competencies related to the petroleum, production of petroleum and alternative fuel, quality control of petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel, storage of petroleum and petroleum products, loading and transportation of petroleum and petroleum products. The training program defines the following areas: exploration of the composition and properties of petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel; production of marketable petroleum products and alternative fuel; operation of technological equipment of petroleum products and alternative fuel; use of measuring devices and automatics; petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel samples; evaluation of the quality of petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel; storage of petroleum, its products and alternative fuel; operation of technological equipment in potentially explosive and other environments; accountancy of petroleum, its products and alternative fuel; supply of oil terminal with terminal activities providing resources, etc. During practical exercises pupils are taught to determine the fractional composition of gasoline and to present the results in the form of graphs and tables; to identificate physical properties of the oil/oil product, to calculate their rates; calculate quality indicators of oil; to analyse characteristics of mentioned components and mixing technologies; to analyse operating instructions of the fuel production process equipment; to analyse mandatory operational documentation, maintenance instructions of technological equipment and be able to use them; to interpret data of management systems sensors; to work with computer application; to use safely the instrument/automation software in the explosive atmosphere; to take samples in laid down conditions and to handle the sample of identified product; to prepare a sample of arbitration and to register arbitration samples in the register; remove a sample of the arbitration before the anticipated storage period (simulation); to read technological schemes of containers decrypting markings showed in the schemes; to prepare the inventory of indicated operation of the production technology; to simulate the actions of employees referred to an emergency situation; to prepare principal technological scheme of specified technological node and explain it; using a spreadsheet program at the specified level to calibrate the container’s one meter interval; to measure quantities of petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel; to manage the company's petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuels documentation; to account the natural loss of fuel specified in the product and the type of container; to read the distinctive signs and information tools used in the vehicles; to operate handling equipment; to read piping diagrams and manage trunk and domestic pipelines in enterprises; to calculate petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuels loss during handling; to fill a specific product accompanying documents; to compare emissions storing petroleum products in the old style containers and tanks with floating roofs; to fill an accounting journal of petroleum products and bio products stored in fuel tanks; to fill an accounting journal of petroleum products and bio products which the company directly supplies to the consumer; to fill monthly turnover reports of petroleum products and bio products stored in fuel tanks or terminals; to fill monthly turnover reports of gas station sales; to use laboratory equipment, appliances, utensils, reagents and form practical chemical experiment skills; to read and explain design drawings of the technological equipment in gas station; to work with cash register at the gas station; to take fuel using a specialized cash register, fill a cash journal, prepare a daily report and manage cash documents. During practice there is consolidation and improvement of acquired knowledge. The Oil product operator qualification awarded after completion of the entire training program. During final assessment the professional knowledge and practical skills are assessed. Final assessment consists of two parts: assessment of theoretical knowledge and assessment of practical skills. During final assessment should be demonstrated the following competencies: to explore the composition and properties of petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel; to produce marketable petroleum products and alternative fuel; to operate technological equipment of petroleum products and alternative fuel; to use measuring devices and automatics; to take petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel samples; to evaluate the quality of petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuel; to warehouse petroleum, its products and alternative fuel; to operate technological equipment in potentially explosive and other environments; to account petroleum, its products and alternative fuel; to manage supply of oil terminal with terminal activities providing resources, etc. After completion of the program, it is possible to continue training in the higher education institutions according to the programs in the field of technology sciences. The program is intended for persons with general education.
