General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To develop masters with high personal and professional competence in social work that will be able to work in an intercultural level with children and youth, do research while analyzing children and youth social problems; will be able to organize social work and provision of services, finding the most effective solutions to these problems, moreover – will be able to continually reflect on, evaluate their professional activities and provide these opportunities for performance improvement.
Learning outcomes:
the Programme foresees to prepare professional social work specialists working with children and youth:
- who are able to integrate theoretical knowledge and practical experience adopting democratic principles and empowering methods of social work theories and practice in social work with children and youths; to develop and evaluate their professional knowledge and skills targeted in personal training plan and career development, to analyse and apply innovation in professional activities.
- who are able to carry out relevant quantitative and qualitative research, to do qualified analysis of children and youth issues and to use the best available scientific knowledge as one basis for guiding professional interventions combined with professional ethical standards and practice wisdom.
- who are able to ensure that children and youths are provided services within the context of cultural understanding and competence; to advocate for resources and system reforms that will improve services for children and youths; to promote collaboration in supporting, enhancing, and delivering effective services; and actively engage older youths in addressing their needs.
- who are able to ensure the safety and well-being of children and youths through evidence-based practices; to provide assessment, support, counseling, resource coordination, and advocacy for children, youths and their families.
- who are able to plan personal learning and career process, pursue the personal and professional growth continuously building their knowledge and skills to provide the most current, beneficial, and culturally appropriate services to children, youths, and families and apply innovations in their professional activities.

Part of the program is implemented in Lithuania and part – abroad; Students have the opportunity to get to know other cultures, to understand the social, economic differences, meet and make friends with teachers and students from around the world.
Students will be able:
• to make practice in the international children's and youth organizations, and social service institutions and gain experience, which can help for the future (international) career; constantly improve their foreign language skills, as the studies are not in Lithuanian language;
draw on the knowledge of the teachers who came to teach in other universities, or take partial studies in foreign universities
schools, the study of different cultural and academic environments to take even a few countries and the best high school experience

Access to professional activity:
career opportunities in all kind of socio-educational service institutions that provide different social services for children and youth. Graduates will be able to design, implement and develop modern social work strategies in the international labor market not only in Lithuania but also abroad. Programme graduates, as qualified social work with children and youth specialists, will be able to realize their career tasks:
• in children and youth day centres especially working with children and youth from social risk families;
• in juvenile justice institutions as providers of social services for delinquent children and youth.
• in implementing youth policy in municipalities.
• in improving quality of social work with migrants
• in developing career guidance services for children and youth.
• in developing universal multifunctional centres.
During the Programme acquired knowledge and skills would allow graduates to address above mentioned needs of children and youth and to plan, organize, manage and evaluate social work process in different multicultural environments.
Access to further study:
Access to further study: The graduates may continue in doctoral studies and seek academic careers in national or foreign universities and research institutions.
