Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The goal of master's studies in the protection of children's rights is to prepare highly qualified masters of social work in children's rights that are able to implement and develop innovative strategies of the protection of children's rights and the ones related to the securing of child welfare in different state, non-governmental and private structures that carry out implementation and protection of the children's rights in the national and European context.
Learning outcomes:
1. Ability to communicate and co-operate with different audience when submitting substantiated findings, based on principles of respect for human rights and ethics of multicultural society.
2. Ability to co-ordinate assistance to child and his/her environment (family, school, etc.) based on principles of communication and co-operation, characteristic to culture of democracy.
3. Ability to select research strategy and methods when analysing and dealing with rights of child protection issues.
4. Ability to use research findings and guidelines in order to apply innovations and improve quality of services in a field of child rights protection.
5. Ability to recognise and organise needs of personal and professional development, based on latest professional expertise, guidelines and innovations.
6. Ability to monitor and assess regularly one’s personal and professional development and to anticipate development and career perspectives.
7. Ability to identify, analyse and assess the needs of child, factors affecting reasons and issues, and to deal with issues by organising and providing assistance to child and his/her environment, based on principle of personal responsibility for decisions taken.
8. Ability to analyse and assess validity of delivery of solutions, related to protection of rights of child, and assistance provided, in line with conditions and efficiency of welfare of child.
9. Application of both national and international mechanisms (methods and procedures) of enforcement of rights of child and welfare protection.
10. Ability to apply legislation and principal of protection of rights of child when providing most appropriate assistance, support and protection of child, and to represent and protect best interests of child in family, institution and court.
11. Ability to provide services to child and family, while systematically assessing quality of the same services.
12. Ability to develop new types of social support for child and his/her family, with reference to ever changing internal and external factors.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lecture, seminar, individual and/or team tasks, discussions, mind map, case study, situation modelling, essay, projects, individual and team reasoning, independent preparation and presentation of analytical papers.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Achievements of students are assessed based on 10 grade scale and certification. Key assessment methods include examination and final master’s thesis (10 grade scale). Students are subject to cumulative assessment: colloquia, individual and team tasks, social projects.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
Master study programme of Protection of Children’s Rights is different from other master study programmes of the same course due to its specifics, as its contents is focused on protection of rights of child.

The academic qualifications enable to work in all levels of child rights protection institutions both governmental and municipal and non-governmental organizations. The graduates can proceed with academic career in research institutes and universities both in the country and abroad.
