General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare qualified professionals in the field of investment and insurance who are capable of analysing and evaluating business information, advising private and corporate clients on investment and insurance matters, and managing the sales and administration of financial products in line with clients’ needs, expectations, financial capabilities, and the principles of sustainable economic development.

Learning outcomes:
Understand the investment process, the roles of financial markets, and the responsibilities of their participants.
Understand the structure, purpose, and functions of the insurance system within the economy.
Apply national and international legislation governing the activities of financial market participants.
Analyse trends in the development of financial markets and evaluate the impact of globalisation on the national market using innovative methods and technologies.
Collect and apply business information effectively, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding the company’s activities.
Identify the need for physical, human, and financial resources, and manage and evaluate their effective use in the context of sustainable economic development.
Analyse the interrelationship and influence between sustainable business development objectives and financial markets.
Analyse the impact of technological solutions on the transformation of insurance and investment products.
Identify client needs, expectations, investment risk tolerance, and financial capability when preparing and presenting insurance and investment proposals.
Identify insurance risks, and analyse and evaluate the characteristics of insurance products, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages in a changing demographic, economic, and technological environment.
Conclude and administer insurance contracts and manage insurance claims in accordance with Lithuanian legislation and international agreements.
Analyse corporate financial statements and assess the suitability of different asset classes for investment, making appropriate investment decisions aligned with sustainable development goals.
Formulate investment portfolios by applying the principles of investment portfolio management theory.
Determine the risks and expected returns of individual investment instruments and portfolios across different financial and economic cycles.
Apply sales techniques in both traditional and electronic sales processes using modern, technology-based advisory tools.
Defend a point of view in professional discussions and communicate professional knowledge in English and other foreign languages.
Apply professional ethics and demonstrate citizenship, respecting the principles of equal opportunities and tolerance in a multicultural environment.
Resolve client conflicts in challenging situations in accordance with professional ethics.
Plan and organise one’s own time and activities in a fast-paced environment, taking responsibility for assigned tasks.
Select and apply up-to-date learning strategies and methods.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, financial games and simulations, scenario modelling, case studies, problem-based discussions, projects, interactive seminars, business workshops, individual and group assignments, as well as interactive virtual reality exercises.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The main methods for assessing learning outcomes are written examinations and project-based assignments. Cumulative assessment is applied throughout the course of study. Written examinations are used to evaluate students’ theoretical understanding, while project-based work may include written tasks, simulations, or case studies to assess applied competencies. Student performance is evaluated using a ten-point grading scale, ranging from 1 (very poor) to 10 (excellent).

Practical training:
Practical training “Investment Portfolio Construction and Management” conducted using an investment simulator and Bloomberg Terminal data.
Educational practice “Simulating the Performance of a Company” is carried out in a simulation company established by students.
Final Practice of Professional Activity is implemented in real business enterprises.

In the autumn and spring semesters of the second year, students may choose to study additional elective subjects.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study programme offers a comprehensive and integrated approach to finance, covering key areas such as alternative investments and sustainable financial strategies. It is the only collegiate-level programme in Lithuania that systematically combines these components within a structured curriculum. The programme enables students to prepare for nationally recognised qualification examinations for Investment Consultant (formerly Financial Broker) and/or Insurance Broker. In addition to theoretical and practical coursework, students engage in applied learning activities in collaboration with business sector representatives. These activities include business challenges, financial games and simulations, idea exchange sessions, and international academic initiatives, all aimed at strengthening professional competencies and employability.

Graduates of the programme possess a diverse range of career opportunities across various sectors of the financial industry. They may assume roles as financial analysts, evaluating investment opportunities and providing guidance to companies or private individuals in making informed investment decisions. Alternatively, they may pursue careers as wealth managers, assisting clients in growing and safeguarding their assets through strategic investment and financial planning. Additionally, graduates may become market researchers, analysing market trends to support investment strategies. They may also specialise in risk assessment, developing financial protection strategies, and advising clients on insurance coverage and claims management.
