General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
Prepare bachelors in the area of business with knowledge of international business, logistics and customs who would be able to represent and act as intermediaries of companies in the customs and other areas, also be capable of organising and carrying out, in an independent, modern and competitive manner, the complex activities of the international supply chain and customs logistics under the conditions of convergence and integration of the business and public sectors.
Learning outcomes:
Graduates will be able:
1. To responsibly and creatively apply the theories, models and research methods of fundamental, social and humanitarian sciences to analysis of international business.
2. To independently initiate, organise and conduct applied and interdisciplinary research for the purposes of assessing the international business environment and to take decisions.
3. To comprehensively assess the political, economic and legal environment of continually changing international business and prospects for business development.
4. To apply standards of classification of goods and cargo, to determine the origin of goods, their customs value, customs status, to calculate taxes, debts owed to the customs, to independently plan, develop and provide specific representation, intermediation, logistics and other supply chain services.
5. To prepare corporate governance documentation, to plan and to organise a company’s activities in the international supply chain.
6. To make use of information and other technology applications in performing business, logistics and customs operations, managing material flows within the EU customs territory and in third countries.
7. To manage business risks taking advantage of the opportunities provided by e-business, e-customs and other modern technologies.
8. To be aware of the impact of civilizations and cultural differences on social interactions, to communicate and to work in a multicultural environment, to communicate in foreign languages, to act effectively in another culture when gaining foothold in new markets, linking them by material flows.
9. To maintain business relations with all concerned, to initiate business transactions and to develop activities of international business structures by increasing their social responsibility and implementing sustainable development principles.
10. To adequately assess their professional qualities, knowledge and experience, to provide for future-oriented directions of professional self-expression and personal development and to continuously improve themselves as highly qualified providers of specific services, organisers or managers.
11. To use knowledge acquired and conceptual and critical thinking developed during studies for the purposes of managing personal career and ensuring successful integration into the labour market, to be able, under any circumstances, to fulfil and to actualise themselves as a dignified personality.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures; seminars/workshops; analysis of legal acts; scientific literature or empirical studies; interactive methods of studies; group discussion; problem area studies; case(s) analysis/studies; targeted consultations; practical training and performance of practical tasks; sightseeing/field visits; project-related individual/group work, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Cumulative score is applied. Cumulative assessment includes certain outcomes achieved in study subject programmes and assessed using various assessment techniques, such as practical training, critical incident analysis, case study, ‘essays’, presentations, reports, continuous assessment for constructive participation in lectures, seminars, workshops, etc. The final grade consists of a component of cumulative assessment whose size in fixed in a subject programme (as accumulated by a student) and an examination.

International Business, Fundamentals of Business, Business Management, Legal Framework of International Business and Customs, International Economic Relations, Classification of Goods and Cargo, Tariff Regulation, Non-tariff Regulation, Market Protection through Customs Formalities, Social Responsibility of Organisations, Business Statistics, Information and Communication Technologies, International and Customs Logistics, Transportation and Warehousing Systems, Basics of Marketing and Market Research, Risk Management and Industrial Property Protection in Customs, E-customs for Business, International Commercial Transactions, E-logistics in International Trade, International Freight Forwarding, etc.
Two periods of professional practical training (18 credits) at customs bodies, the programme’s stakeholders and enterprises of social partners, under exchange and other international programmes and co-operation agreements – at foreign organisations.

For a more in-depth specialisation in the same field, students can choose 3 subjects and 18 credits (alternatively from among 9 subjects offered in the programme), in addition, they can choose two optional subjects (12 credits) from among the subjects taught in other study programmes at MRU (a list of optional subjects at MRU is provided) or choose a course relevant to a student at another educational institution whose credits can be allowed in university studies.
Students prepare a course paper on freely chosen topic relevant to them (6 credits).

Graduates will be able to become professional managers, heads of logistics facilities and divisions, to perform the functions of an international business management analyst. The graduates are prospective heads of economic entities’ facilities for export, import, transit, international and customs logistics, organisers, also organisers and managers of activities of other structures of international business related to the international movement of material flows. In addition, they will be able to establish, administer and manage international supply chain management and customer service businesses.
Access to further study:
The students who have acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Business are proposed to enter at MRU Master’s degree programmes in International Trade (study field: Business) or Logistics Management (study field: Logistics) or to choose Master’s studies at other Lithuanian or foreign universities.
