General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare political science and security bachelors with a strong background knowledge in social sciences and humanities, comprehensive understanding of political and security processes, ability to analyse practically political and security related challenges in Lithuania and abroad applying qualitative and quantitative methods of social research.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and Its Application:
A1 Understand the core social sciences and humanities concepts closely related to politics and security.
A2 Are able to characterize political processes and theoretical models of politics.
A3 Are able to describe major regional and global political and security processes.
A4 Are able to describe major trends in sustainable development and global governance and to recognize political ideologies and value systems.
Research Skills:
B1 Are able to apply qualitative and quantitative research methods.
B2 Are able to analyse systematically political and security issues, collect and interpret necessary data and information.
B3 Are able to perform analysis of political and security related phenomena, prepare reports and formulate conclusions and evidence-based recommendations.

Activities of teaching and learning:
The program study process involves contact hours and independent learning. Contact hours are based on lectures, practical seminars and tutorials. Student’s independent learning is focused on preparing homework assignments, getting ready for lectures, seminars, midterm and final exams as well as performing other activities relevant for gaining knowledge, skills and competence.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Students knowledge, skills and competences are evaluated and registered in data base several times per semester: individual work assignments are evaluated during the semester by grades (10 point scale), the total individual work is evaluated at the end of semester (positive/negative), the final grade is given during the examination session while multiplying particular grades by the weight coefficient and summing the products (10 point scale).

A graduate understands the core social science and humanities problematique closely related to politics and security, comprehends political and security processes, applies social research methods in the analysis of national and international political and security processes.

The graduate can work at national and international governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations and other institutions participating in political and security processes as well as in businesses, training organizations, research institutes, media organisations and at the European Union and other international organizations.
