General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of Coiffure Design programme is to prepare a specialist who is able to create hairstyle, using the newest colouring, cutting and construction technologies, creating new hairstyle technologies, analysing hair structure and choosing haircare products and devices, analysing fashion tendencies, foreseeing fashion trend, creating individual and stage image, planning and organizing hairdressing salon activities.
Learning outcomes:
1. Information management and communication
• To be aware of the subject specific terminology and concepts; will be able to systematize, analyse and contextualize the subject specific information in the professional sphere and to handle information technologies.
• To work in a team, to communicate with colleagues, customers and the public.
2. Ability to perform research
• To maintain general cultural values, the ideas of sustainable development and lifelong learning principles.
• To think critically and self-critically, perceive moral responsibility for their activity results, will be able to study and work independently.
3. Special skills
• To evaluate the client's needs, to determine his social and physical data, to select suitable tools for hairstyling.
• To properly apply innovative hairstyling modelling techniques and hairdressing technologies.
• To use safe working methods and will be apply the working condition requirements.
4. Social skills
• To know about the history of art and fashion, to analyse their innovations.
• To apply design principles, the means of artistic expression and techniques for their implementation, will creatively experiment and seek for self-expression.
• To combine individual creative solutions and innovative technologies, will seek for the artistic expression.
5. Personal skills
• To analyse the principles of the creative business development, legal and accounting distinctiveness, to forecast the creative business results, to independently plan and organize the creative process.
• To formulate and substantiate the creative idea of hairstyles and original artistic and technical solutions.
• Practically implement stylish and original coiffures and to present the creative project to the public
Activities of teaching and learning:
Are focused on development of general and special competences and creativity education: lectures, professional practice, discussions, case study, individual and group project works, public presentations and defence, information search and systematization and etc.
Methods of assessment of learning outcomes:
Evaluation of learning outcomes is performed applying the cumulative assessment during the entire semester and exam session. Learning outcomes are evaluated through the intermediate settlements: test, project, project, public presentation and defence, individual creative tasks, seminars, term papers, practice reports, seminars, exams and final project.

The qualification gives access to work as coiffure designer in a number of beauty industry enterprises, beauty and hairdressing salons, theatre, television, cinema or photography studios, in cultural events organizations, advertising agencies, pastiche products salons and others.
Access to professional activity or further study:
Students can work as a consultant in the private and state enterprises, to create individual image, perform business financial accountancy, to develop and manage fashion business.
Acquired skills allow opportunities to continue studies at Lithuanian and foreign universities (arts, social sciences study programs directions).
