General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The programme develops competency to analyse statistical data (choosing an appropriate statistical model, formulating statistical problem, choosing an appropriate solving method and properly interpreting the results); to use the prevalent statistical software, to work with databases, to communicate orally and in writing in a foreign language.

Modules of study field (165 credits) can be distributed into the following groups: General mathematical courses (calculus, algebra, geometry, basics of discrete mathematics) – 45 credits; Basics of Informatics (informatics, relational databases management systems) – 10 credits; Foreign language – 10 credits; Statistical courses (probability theory, statistical packages, statistical inference, statistics, random processes, data visualization, sampling methods, censored data analysis, time series, generalized linear models) – 70 credits; Professional practice – 15 credits; Bachelor thesis – 15 credits. Other 15 credits are devoted for General university subjects. The rest 75 credits students can choose autonomously.

Graduates may work at the : government institutions (e.g., Department of Statistics in Lithuania, Customs of Lithuania); quality control departments in industrial companies; companies that analyse medical data (e.g., Vilnius university hospital Santariškių klinikos, Scope Baltija); companies that are interested in statistical analysis of big (own) data arrays (LESTO, telecommunication companies, banks, trading companies); IT companies that analyse big data arrays by contract.
Access to further study:
After graduation, students may continue studies in the programmes of Master’s degree programmes of Statistics or related study fields at Lithuanian or foreign higher education institutions.
