Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
To develop professional bachelor's degree specialists in management who are able to organise and manage building maintenance processes, to implement effective management and development solutions, to ensure the durability, energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings, to apply modern management principles and methods, innovative technologies, and to comply with legal acts.

Learning outcomes:
Graduate of the programme:
1. Can describe and define the main management theories, concepts and principles and apply them to building maintenance management activities.
2. Analyse the economic, political, legal, technological, social and cultural environment of building maintenance management companies or organisations.
3. Describes the processes of accounting, sales, human resource management and building maintenance organisation, applies innovative technologies and follows the legal provisions for regulating activities.
4. Apply the principles of social responsibility and ethics in building maintenance management.
5. Carry out applied research in the field of management, applying quantitative and qualitative research methods, collecting, organising and analysing data related to building maintenance processes.
6. Formulates conclusions and uses the information gathered in a targeted manner to solve building maintenance management problems.
7. Collects and structures and analyses data on the company's activities and applies it in different areas.
8. Evaluates the results of building maintenance processes and makes suggestions for improving activities.
9. Integrates modern technologies and ensures the efficiency of building management.
10. Takes socially responsible decisions, adheres to the principles of professional ethics and ensures sustainability of building maintenance.
11. Communicates and cooperates with functional and technical specialists, owners, community representatives and residents.
12. Demonstrates practical individual and teamwork skills in solving building maintenance management problems.
13. Expresses ideas fluently and persuasively, both orally and in writing, and communicates in a way that conveys professional knowledge of management and building maintenance management.
14. Identifies, analyses and evaluates problems arising in the operational process.
15. Analyses and self-critically evaluates own actions, decisions and their environmental impact.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, practicals, consultations, coursework, discussions, individual and group project work, case studies, thesis presentations and defences, professional practices, educational trips, lectures by business representatives, distance learning, information retrieval and systemisation.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The student's knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during the study of the subjects included in the programme of study shall be assessed by reporting on all the work carried out independently by the student during the semester and during examination sessions as included in the programme of study. The study programme shall be completed by
the student's own work
The student shall complete the self-study programme by the presentation and defence of a final thesis. The results achieved by the student at the end of the course shall be evaluated by assigning them to the following levels of achievement: excellent, typical and threshold.

In accordance with the applicable laws, building technical regulations, building maintenance rules and good management practice, graduates will be able to organise and plan building operation and maintenance processes. They will be able to apply strategies for energy saving, the integration of renewable energy and the use of advanced information technologies. Consistently develop the ability to make timely business optimisation decisions related to building maintenance activities both within and outside the company. The study programme focuses on the future of building maintenance. The close relationship with social partners, communication and cooperation with building management companies provide the right conditions for acquiring the necessary competences and for success in the labour market.

Access to professional activity:
Graduates will be able to pursue careers in property maintenance, administration and management, working in both the private and public sectors. This qualification would be sought after by companies in any business sector that manage and maintain their own buildings, by government and municipal building maintenance and management departments, and by real estate and insurance companies.

Graduates will be able to continue their studies in master's degree programmes at Lithuanian and foreign higher education institutions.
