Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme: to train social workers who can apply the knowledge and skills of social work professionally and creatively in the constantly changing society providing social assistance for different client groups undertaking obligations for social justice, person ‘s rights and professional ethics.

Learning outcomes:
Graduates will be able to: 1. Integrates social work and other sciences to identify needs for social services based on sustainable development principles. 2. Is able to analyze research data using social work knowledge and practice. 3. Adapts the most appropriate intervention strategy based on an analysis of the client's situation and client system. 4. Applies a range of social work methods to clients. 5. Develops an assistance plan by mobilizing and using human, financial and other resources. 6. Develops an action plan to mobilise and empower the community. 7. Is able to assign roles to other helping professions in an interdisciplinary setting. 8. Selects the most effective methods of communication when working with the client and the client system. 9. Is able to reflect on professional practice through theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

Activities of teaching and learning:
(The study programme) is oriented to the development of generic and specialist competences and creativity: lectures, seminars, discussions, individual and group projects, practice, case studies, public presentation and defense of projects, mind-maps, problem-solving reading, writing articles, information search and systematizing, etc.

Methods of student achievement assessment:
The assessment of the learning outcomes of the study programme is carried out during the semester and the examination session applying a cumulative assessment system. During the semester, the learning outcomes are assessed by means of interim assignments: tests, individual and group projects, case studies, information search and systematizing, discussions, essays, independent creative tasks, seminars, term papers, practice reports, examinations, final projects and/or qualifying exams.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
Students are encouraged to acquire international study experience of social work when choosing studies abroad (from 1 semester to 1 academic year through the exchange programs). General competences and subject competences (ability to solve complex problems, critical thinking, creativity, human resource management, teamwork, emotional intelligence, decision making reception, service orientation, negotiation skills) are promoted and deepened in non-formal way (professional practice, competitions for mastery, national and international project activities).
