Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the study programme of Automobile Transport Engineering, on the completion of which a Professional Bachelor Degree in Engineering Sciences is awarded, is to train qualified specialists of automobile transport engineering, who are able to accomplish independently a complex work, requiring personal responsibility in the fields of automobile maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, a business company’s (division’s) activity design, organization, performance and control by formulating and reasoning the solutions in automobile engineering as well as develop general abilities addressing employment and citizenship issues, teamwork, creative and critical thinking in analysing and summarizing the performance results.
Learning outcomes:
1. Know general processes and phenomena of the natural sciences that explain the processes in natural and technological environment, the regularities and laws of mathematics and engineering sciences, necessary to understand the fundamentals of land transport engineering study field.
2. Perform engineering analysis, applying knowledge and understanding in analysing the tasks of the field of transport engineering and selecting appropriate methods, experimental and technological equipment.
3. Carry out research in the field of automotive engineering, applying analytical and modelling methods and experimental, laboratory and production equipment, process the results of the tests and laboratory work and provide practical conclusions of these results by using information technology, databases and software.
4. Choose engineering solutions and measures as well as technological equipment required for design, organization, execution and control of technological processes of diagnostics, maintenance and repairs of automotive vehicle equipment and control systems.
5. Have skills in working with the technological equipment used in automotive diagnostics, maintenance and repair work.
6. Perform quality control of work and assess automobile maintenance engineer’s professional solutions from the ethical, social, economic, environmental and human safety point of view.
7. Apply communication, cooperation and collaboration skills in groups and teams to introduce problems and solutions of automotive transport engineering in writing and orally, in correct Lithuanian language and at least one foreign language.
8. Organize and implement the company’s (branch’s) activities, render professional knowledge, take responsibility for the quality of their own and their subordinates’ performance.
9. Study independently in the field of professional activity, understand
moral responsibility for the impact of their activity and its results on the society, maintain the companys values ensuring personal and corporate image.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, seminars, discussions, ractical work, problem-based learning, project preparation, case analysis, group work, demonstration, information search and analysis, consultations, professional practice, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
A cumulative assessment system is applied. Assessment methods: exams, tests, preparation and presentation of practice reports, preparation and presentation of independent work, preparation and presentation of projects, preparation and presentation of team work, preparation of practical tasks and other methods.

1. General Subjects of College Studies – 15 credits (Foreign Language, Business Philosophy, Environmental and Human Safety, Business Communication).
2. Other study subjects – 12 kreditų (Corporate Economy, Fundamentals of Business Law, Fundamentals of Business Planning).
3. Study Field Subjects – 138 credits, which consists of: Compulsory Subjects – 96 credits (Mathematics, Physics, Information Technologies, Engineering Graphics, Computer Engineering Design, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Consumables, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Basics of Mechatronics, Automobile Structure, Internal Combustion Engines, Automobile Maintenance, Automobile Repair Technologies, Diagnostics of Automobile Control Systems, Automobile Dynamics, Technological Design of Car Service Companies, Administration of Car Service Activities); Practical Training – 30 credits (Technological Practice, Professional Practice I, Professional Practice II, Final Practical Training); Final Thesis (12 credits).
4. Optional Subjects – 15 credits, which consists of gilesnės tos pačios krypties studijų dalykai – 9 credits (Auto Body Repair/ Car Defect Detection and Examination/Diagnostics of Control Systems for Fybrid Cars and Electric Vehicles/Diagnostics of Car Comfort, Safety and Auxiliary Electrical Systems); Freely Elective Courses – 6 credits.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study programme is designed to provide the foundational knowledge of the automobile transport engineer profession and to develop the professional and general skills necessary for independent work and a successful career in the modern labor market. The programme covers the following areas of activity: designing, organizing, implementing, and supervising automotive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair processes, as well as managing business operations.Students can study and practice abroad using the various funds, bilateral agreements. Also students can participate in international training.

Access to professional activity:
A specialist of Automobile Transport Engineering can work in auto service stations, large automotive transport companies, and design offices of automotive maintenance technology and equipment.
Access to further study:
The graduates are entitled to a credit transfer system for entering level one university study programmes, they can choose Master programmes. The continuation of studies is possible in the Lithuanian and / or foreign universities.
