General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of Horticulture SP is to train an agricultural specialist with theoretical knowledge, applied and analytical skills, capable of setting up a business, i.e. carrying out the activities of a specialised farm, rationally selecting and applying horticultural, horticultural and floricultural technologies, organising the marketing of agricultural production, ensuring its quality, and being able to carry out maintenance work on ornamental plants. The first sub-objective is to broaden the worldview of horticulture students, to promote critical thinking, civic engagement, awareness of globalisation processes and the ability to act in an intercultural space. The second sub-objective is to develop a qualified agricultural specialist who is able to organise and plan the creation of a specialised farm, who is aware of the regularities in the formation of yields and their quality, and who is able to cultivate agricultural and ornamental plants and to market their production using the latest technologies and sustainable environmental principles. The third sub-objective is to develop a creative, entrepreneurial and diversified mindset, capable of working in a team, making independent decisions and pursuing lifelong professional development.

1.1.Understands the rational principles of land use and the environmental impact of economic activities, and is aware of the problems and contexts of adjacent fields of study, their solutions and the possibilities of their application in professional practice.

Activities of teaching and learning:
The main study methods that are applied in the University are traditional and thematic authentic lectures of social partners, practice and laboratory works, investigation and/or analysis of a specific case by providing one’s own speculations in the form of reflection, work in small groups by performing individual assignments, seminars, discussions; development, introduction and discussion of course projects, training and industrial (speciality) practice, oriented active learning/teaching methods are applied. Specific situations which arise during works and projects are analysed and solved by using acquired knowledge and competences in a complex way.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
When assessing student’s results define application of the cumulative assessment system. Observing the principles of consistency and systematicity, study subject programmes include intermediate testing, during which specific learning outcomes are assessed. Studies of each subject are terminated with the final exam. 2.1. Is aware of forest ecosystem components (soil, plants, animals, their diseases, etc.) and is able to apply this knowledge for identifying and solving forestry problems.

Activities of teaching and learning:
The main study methods are traditional and thematic lectures by social partners (authors), practices (practical training, including Professional Activity (specialization) Practice), practical and laboratory assignments, specific case study and/or analysis by providing speculations in the form of reflection, work in small groups when conducting individual assignments, seminars, discussions, course projects, their presentation and discussion, educational trips to demonstration objects, etc. Experience-based active teaching/learning methods are being applied: specific situations that emerged during the process of studying are being solved through application of the acquired knowledge and competences.
Information of all study subjects is mastered via direct (live) and online contact teaching and student’s individual (independent) work. Contact teaching includes lectures, practical training, practical and laboratory assignments, conducted in classrooms, laboratories, the forest, the forest nursery, seed plantations, demonstration objects, etc. Online teaching is organized in virtual environment, using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoogleMeet and other virtual learning platforms. Student’s individual (independent) work is oriented towards development of abilities to independently pursue professional activity with help of theory studying, search and analysis of scientific literature. It also encompasses preparation for lectures, seminars, laboratory works, analysis of course projects, intermediate tests of the term and preparation for the Final Exam.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The most frequent forms of learning outcome assessment are examination, test, presentation and discussion of results of laboratory or practical assignments, presentation of individual projects, presentation of the selected topic during a seminar, oral presentation of group assignments, and discussion of practical works. Students are encouraged to actively participate in assessment of their learning outcomes: to discuss the applied assessment methods, to decide on time and method of intermediate assessment from provided alternatives.

College studies of Forestry study field are directed towards development of practical competences. SP learning outcomes define the level of developed competences, activity areas of forestry specialists, the main functions of their activity. Having acquired the knowledge and practical skills of fundamental sciences, graduates will be able to apply scientific knowledge for creative problem solving, analysis of forestry/wood industry/nature tourism organization issues, to select and apply specific technologies, solutions and measures, to manage technological processes, etc. Skills defined in learning outcomes are targeted at developing a creative, responsible, active personality, and able to fluently communicate. Acquired skills and knowledge provide students with possibilities of mobility and study continuation, ensure successful graduates’ integration in the labour market and their career possibilities, form the need to develop professional qualification throughout all activity period.

Forestry study program is oriented to future graduates’ job in state and private enterprises, associations of private forest owners, setting up a small or medium forestry or related business. It prepares practical activity specialists for forestry and wood industry, sustainable use of natural resources, landscape management, recreation, and environment protection. Forestry study program is unique – other universities of applied sciences in the country do not offer such SP. Employers’ feedback about the demand for specialists in forestry sector indicates that graduates are on high demand in the labour market, and that this demand will persist at least in the nearest future.

Objective(s) of a study programme:
Provide university education of a Master of Architecture in the area of the arts and to train a qualified architect capable to carry an autonomous research and to found on it one’s professional practice.
Learning outcomes:
A) Knowledge and the use of it:
A1. General university knowledge, awareness of cultural (the arts, architecture) phenomena; knowledge in the fields of philosophy, aesthetics, the history of art and architecture, psychology and other, ability to use such knowledge and to perform its creative analysis and synthesis (broad erudition).
A2. Command of the core knowledge of the study field and its use in the process of studies and professional practice, inclusive of architectural composition, methodology of building design and environment planning, of building technologies, construction structures, civil engineering systems, of legal acts regulating territorial planning and building design and other knowledge; ability to employ it making professional solutions underpinned by informed argument (professional competence).
A3. Knowledge in the methodology of pre-design research – methods of analysis used for architectural and natural structures, awareness of methods used in applied architectural research/investigation.
B) Ability to conduct research:
B1. Application of professional research methods – ability to apply a range of methods of scientific research to applied research situations; skills of information collection from primary and secondary sources and digital media; ability to process, analyse, synthesize and make judgments about results and to formulate conclusions.

Employed for creative-professional course units:
• problem-centred lectures and discussions (focused on the analysis and elaboration of a problem);
• problem solving method, eye-to-eye tutoring (focused on search for solutions in response to a real-world social, cultural, urban-architectural problems; case-study based activity);
• presentation of independent (individual and group) creative work: its progress and results; review, critical analysis and discussion;
• seminars and creative studio practice sessions take place routinely at the start of a semester, with a goal of giving a broader overview of the theme in focus; the end of each semester is marked by a public review of creative work combined with critical analysis, critique, feedback and discussions. Creative workshop is a format of joint group work conducted in response to topicalities of the day (visits and workshops by leading foreign specialists, participation in competitions and public actions).

They are periods of testing and deepening of specialty knowledge, of broadening of skills of autonomous professional activity. Student achievement assessment methods:
Student achievement assessment is anchored to the principles of validity, objectivity, consistency and transparency:
• In theoretical subject courses students receive informal oral assessment (in the frame of a colloquium, discussion) and a summative assessment for a written work (test, essay, examination);
• For creative courses, diagnostic assessment (primary closure/sketch), formative assessment (informal feedback during tutorials and midterm reviews) and final summative assessment (course work/graduation projects) are employed.
Students are assessed considering: the use of knowledge in practice, artistic-aesthetic, engineering-technological literacy; capability of autonomous work and study. The process employs a cumulative assessment system: a range of facets are embraced to evaluate the assignments of independent work, the final grade represents a calculated common arithmetic mean. The assessment of work takes place in the environment of public review, within the frame defined by provisions and criteria presented to students at the start of each semester.

1. It is a unique study programme in Lithuania, which prepares professional creators of contemporary and classical dance art, who are able to work in various contexts of dance aesthetics.
2. This study programme differs from analogous study programmes of Lithuanian and foreign higher education institutions in that it is supplemented with subjects of theatrical mastery and performativity – Basics of Acting, Stage Language, Coordination of Voice and Movement, Study of Creating a Play, Development of Performing Art Forms.
3. The study programme consists of two parts, i.e., practical and theoretical studies:
• Practical studies are organised for groups and individually, developing practical body management skills and various dance techniques and composition;
• Theoretical studies form the basis for understanding the value and context of practical skills.
4. During the studies, students have the opportunity to get acquainted with Lithuanian and ‘guest’ choreographers and pedagogues, their working methods and new, rarer dance techniques, encouraging the participation of students and pedagogues in mobility programs.

Distinctive features of a study programme:

This is a unique first-cycle study programme available in Lithuania that educates professional dance art specialists. From the third year, it is possible to choose alternative (entertainment, folk, performative) dance study subjects.

During the study process, the integrated teaching model is applied. In the programme, in addition to the subjects of the main (dance) field of study, subjects of other fields – music, theatre, and pedagogy – are studied.

The students are taught by the most prominent Lithuanian dance artists and scientists, and there is constant cooperation with well-known professional dance art specialists from abroad.

The programme has integrated minor field studies in Arts Pedagogy.


Access to professional activity:

Graduates are able to work as performers or artistic directors of dance groups in various cultural institutions and amateur and professional dance groups and initiate private and project activities of dance education and the creation of new groups.

Upon completion of the integrated minor field studies in Arts Pedagogy and having obtained a teacher’s qualification, graduates can work as teachers in various formal and informal and/or specialised educational institutions.
